We are Sam and Helena, a married couple from Hampshire, England, who just want to travel more.

Points Well Made started through a sense of frustration. Our own points journey is a relatively short one (so far), having been fortunate enough to start in 2018 with the free British Airways American Express, collecting Avios slowly but surely. People would ask us why we were paying for everything with it.

We'd explain that for everything we spend, we earn Avios, and eventually we'd club them all together for a free flight. "That's amazing, I never knew you could do that" is what they'd mostly say. And then: "I should really be doing this…"

Yes.

That disconnect between excitement and action is what inspired us to build a platform that makes this world more accessible. Since then we've redeemed millions of points across multiple schemes, flown to destinations we'd only seen on other people's Instagram, and built an audience who trust us to decode loyalty schemes, demystify credit cards and tell them when something isn't worth it.

We're now the largest miles and points publication on Instagram in the UK, with over 32,000 followers, 100,000+ page views on the site and over 4,500 subscribed to our newsletter.

We publish every day. A new article lands at 5pm on weekdays and 8am at weekends, unless news breaks first, in which case it goes up as soon as we're ready.

Points and miles have a reputation as a hobby for people with Platinum cards, a London postcode and a lounge habit. Most of our readers aren't that, and neither were we. They fly a few times a year, put the weekly shop on a card, and want to know whether a Companion Voucher is worth the faff.

So we write for that person. We assume you're smart and new, not stupid and lazy. If you comment with a question, you'll get an answer, not a lecture about what you should have already known.
