British Airways Avios Calculator
How many Avios do you need, and is it worth it?
British Airways runs one of the most-used loyalty currencies in the UK, and that's precisely why knowing what your Avios are actually worth matters. A 100,000 Avios Club World seat to Singapore can be the redemption of the year. A 20,000 Avios Economy hop to Madrid can be a quiet waste of points. The difference is pence-per-point, and most people have no easy way to work it out.
This calculator does it for you. Pick a destination, pick a cabin, and you'll see BA's Avios price, the mandatory taxes, a realistic cash fare for the same seat, and the pence-per-point return on that redemption. Layer on a Companion Voucher or a Cabin Upgrade Voucher, flip between peak and off-peak, switch one-way to return, and compare every cabin on the route side-by-side.
The calculator covers all 214 destinations British Airways flies to from London, across every cabin BA publishes Avios pricing for. Data is current as of April 2026.
Only looking at BA? Stay here. If you want to run the same calculations for Iberia, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Qatar Airways or Loganair, use our multi-airline Avios calculator. For everything else — earning, transfers, sweet spots, pitfalls — the complete Avios guide has you covered.
Frequently asked questions
How does the BA Avios calculator work?
Pick a route and cabin and the calculator shows the Avios price BA charges, the mandatory taxes, a realistic cash fare for the same seat, and the pence-per-point value of the redemption. It's the "is this actually worth it?" number made obvious.
What's a good value per Avios point?
1p per Avios is the rough minimum worth aiming for. Anything above 1.5p is excellent, and you'll usually find it in long-haul Club or First redemptions, especially off-peak. Short-haul economy often falls below 0.7p and is rarely worth spending points on.
What's the difference between peak and off-peak Avios pricing?
BA charges fewer Avios on off-peak dates (typically midweek and outside school holidays) than on peak dates. The saving runs to tens of thousands of Avios on long-haul routes, so it's worth checking both before you book. Off-peak availability is tighter, but if your dates are flexible it's almost always the smarter play.
Does the calculator include taxes and fees?
Yes. Carrier-imposed surcharges and government taxes are shown alongside the Avios price and factored into the pence-per-point calculation, so the value you see reflects what you'll actually pay out of pocket. Taxes must be paid in cash as BA won't let you cover them with Avios.
Why do cash prices show as ranges?
BA's cash fares vary wildly depending on when you book, when you travel, and how full the flight is. We show realistic ranges based on typical fares rather than pretending there's a single "correct" price. Use them as a guide to understand general redemption value, not a quote.
Which routes offer the best Avios value?
Long-haul Club and First Class to destinations like Singapore, Sydney, Los Angeles, Tokyo and New York routinely hit 1.5p per point and sometimes much more, especially off-peak. Premium Economy on the same routes is often decent too. Short-haul Economy rarely gets above 1p — pay cash and save the Avios for the big redemptions.
How often is the data updated?
The calculator reflects BA's published award chart, which BA adjusts occasionally rather than annually. We review it on every BA announcement and refresh cash price estimates regularly. Current data is from April 2026.
