New York is the Avios destination of the moment. Last week it was British Airways and Amex announcing their cash-free Avios-only flight from Heathrow. Now Aer Lingus has answered with its own first ever Avios-only flight across the Atlantic, Dublin to New York, every seat on the plane payable in Avios alone.

This is a 10 year celebration of the Aer Lingus AerClub, and these flights have been discounted 10% from the usual amount, meaning that economy starts at 23,400 Avios return, and business is 90,000 Avios.

The aircraft being used will be Aer Lingus' A321neo, with staggered 2-1 business class cabin, which will depart Dublin at 2pm on Friday 13 November, with the return from JFK on Tuesday 17 November at 10pm.

Some points about the pricing
When you price up the fare, the amount you see in the booking matrix will show the full price. When you get to the bottom, the 10% off is taken from the total.
A return ticket in business class from Dublin will cost you 90,000 Avios plus £267.80 in taxes and fees.

Price the same trip from London and it's 98,000 Avios plus £538.60. The taxes and fees will be broadly similar if you choose to start your trip from across the UK.

That gap in the fees is almost all Air Passenger Duty, the UK's "world-leading" departure tax, which Ireland doesn't charge. We've written before about why flying from the UK costs what it does. If you wanted to save on fees, you could take a Ryanair flight in and out of Dublin.
If the price doesn't put you off, if you were to select business from the UK through to New York, the UK-Dublin flight will be in economy, as Aer Lingus does not operate a business cabin within Europe.
Lastly, unlike BA's Avios Only flight to New York, you can adjust the amount of Avios you pay.

How to book
The flight is on sale now, and is ONLY bookable through AerClub. You will not be able to book through the BA website.
Seats are limited, and it's first come, first served.
You can book this as a one-way ticket.
As this flight can only be booked through AerClub, you cannot use your Companion Voucher.
You don't already need an AerClub account, or Avios sitting there waiting. Avios move between British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia, Finnair, Qatar, etc for free. Simply create an AerClub account, and shift the Avios you need across from your BA account via Avios.com.
