BA Holidays offer: Pay with Avios is worth 33% more until 18 May

BA Holidays is running an Avios offer until 18 May: a 33% boost on the value of your Avios when used as part payment on a package. Or, framed the other way, you'll need 25% fewer Avios to get the same money off your holiday.

Each of you may see slightly different offers in terms of value per Avios, but here's what I can see.

Calm blue ocean with overwater bungalows in the distance under a bright blue sky with fluffy clouds, creating a serene and tranquil scene.
Will your BA Holiday take you to the Maldives?

How does this Avios bonus look

We searched a 4-night economy trip to New York in January, which is one of the offers linked on the BA website (which you can find here). Heathrow to JFK, two passengers, Paramount Hotel Times Square. Total basket: £1,625.

Shopping basket shows flights from London to New York, hotel at Times Square, return flight, total cost £1,625, and Avios offers.

Here are all the Pay with Avios options BA offered:

The top tier is actually quite good value. If you were to use our British Airways Avios Value tool you'll see that 1.33p per Avios is the kind of value you'd expect from a half-decent reward flight redemption. Even the floor of 0.55p sits above the 0.5p you'd get just converting Avios into Nectar points.

What it looks like on a short-haul booking

Here's a 7-night Tenerife trip, two passengers on direct British Airways flights, RF Astoria in Puerto de la Cruz. The total cost comes to £917.

Essentially the same curve, just a slightly lower top-end per-Avios value, and steps down along the way.

Why the value varies so much

Two things explain the range in Avios value you've just seen.

First, BA structures Pay with Avios on a sliding scale, with the per-Avios value dropping sharply as you spend more Avios on a single booking. This is deliberate. They want to encourage small Avios uses and discourage trying to wipe out the cash bill with a huge points spend. The 33% boost lifts every tier, but the shape of the curve stays the same.

Second, the per-Avios value varies between bookings. The New York booking's floor was 0.55p; the Tenerife booking floored at 0.53p. Your specific destination, cabin, hotel and Avios balance all shape the exact rates you're offered.

So the practical question on any specific booking is: what's the value of the exact option I'm looking at? Plug the numbers in below to find out.

The colour-coded verdict flags whether each option is excellent (above 1p per Avios, comparable to a reward flight redemption), solid (0.7p to 1p), mediocre (0.5p to 0.7p) or poor (below 0.5p, where you'd be better off converting to Nectar).

How to book

Log in to your British Airways Club account and search for a BA Holidays package. At the basket stage, you should see the "Avios worth 33% more on holidays" line under the hotel.

The boosted Avios part-payment options will automatically apply on the Add Extras page. BA doesn't show the pre-boost figures alongside, so you can't see what you're saving against.

This offer covers Flight + Hotel and Flight + Car packages, with travel any time before 27 March 2027, booked before 18 May 2026.

Verdict

This is a decent offer.

Yes, you're more likely to get better value booking a reward flight and hotel separately, but a lot of you are too busy, or simply can't find the availability you desire, and that's before the fact that as this is a BA Holiday you will collect Avios and Tier Points too.

One thing I would be doing on for any booking is to be selective, and only be parting with the smaller amounts of Avios to get maximum value back.
