In a less eventful post compared to the last few days, we thought we'd do a quick Avios route round-up of what's being added, and what's going away.

BA's going to see Father Christmas
British Airways are to start flying from Gatwick to Rovaniemi on 4 December 2026, Mondays and Fridays, twice a week, through the winter.
For those who don't know, you may know Rovaniemi as Lapland. Gatwick to Ivalo (also Lapland) carries on as before.
Cabin | Off-peak | Peak |
Economy | 15,000 Avios | 16,750 Avios |
Club Europe | 26,750 Avios | 30,000 Avios |

Loganair is dropping Heathrow to Dundee
Heathrow to Dundee runs twice a day on weekdays and once on a Sunday, and it's only been there since 2014 because of a public service obligation, which is where the Scottish and UK governments chip in to keep a route alive that wouldn't otherwise pay for itself.
Why does a Dundee route belong in an Avios article? Because Loganair is the sixth Avios airline and everybody forgets it exists. There's no peak and off-peak, no calendar to check, no clever timing. It charges one flat rate all year, with all Loganair flights coming in at 6,500 Avios, which, if you've ever seen Loganair pricing in pounds, you'll know that's an absolute bargain.
The last flight between Heathrow and Dundee is on 18 September.
Aer Lingus is cutting eight routes
Last flight this year | Route | What happens |
28 September 2026 | Dublin to Denver | Gone for good |
29 September 2026 | Dublin to Split | Gone for good |
24 October 2026 | Dublin to Minneapolis | Gone for good |
24 October 2026 | Dublin to Seattle | Summers only from 2027 |
2 November 2026 | Dublin to Frankfurt | Summers only from 2027 |
2 November 2026 | Dublin to Hamburg | Summers only from 2027 |
3 November 2026 | Dublin to Malta | Summers only from 2027 |
3 December 2026 | Dublin to Las Vegas | Gone for good |
Now, you most likely live in the UK (according to our statistics anyway), so why should you care what an Irish airline does out of Dublin?
Aer Lingus uses Avios just like BA does, but it charges fewer of them for the same crossing (you can compare Avios pricing here), and its peak calendar is beautifully simple. Christmas, Easter and summer are peak. Everything else is off-peak, and that includes February and October half-term, unlike BA who want you to pay peak prices any time the schools this about breaking-up.

This is unfortunately the second major cut this year after Aer Lingus shut its Manchester transatlantic base on 31 March and ending routes to New York, Orlando and Barbados.
Lastly, remember that your Companion Voucher still works on Aer Lingus reward flights booked through ba.com.
I will update all of these in the Avios Calculator over the coming days.
