Boost Your Avios by 500% in a Limited-Time Offer: Should You?

Avios has quietly rolled out a limited-time Boost Avios promotion, allowing members to retroactively boost eligible Avios earned since 1 January 2025, all the way up to 500%.
If you were earning Avios during 2025 through flights, credit cards, shopping portals or sign up bonuses, this could be one of the cheapest ways to top up your balance.
The offer runs for just 8 days, so it’s very much a “check your account now” situation.

Apologies, we haven’t done a full deep dive into Boost Avios yet, but that’s coming next week. This is the headline version so you don’t miss the deal.
The Avios Boost Offer at a Glance
Boost eligible Avios transactions earned since 1 January 2025
Increase those Avios by up to 500%
Boost up to 300,000 Avios per year at the cheapest rates
Limited-time promotion, ending in 8 days
This applies to existing Avios you’ve already earned, not future activity.
What Is Avios Boosting?
Boosting your Avios allows you to pay cash to multiply Avios you’ve already earned, rather than buying Avios outright.
Instead of purchasing a fixed bundle of points, you select eligible transactions, such as flights, credit card earnings or shopping portal activity, and choose how much to boost them by.
The appeal is simple:
Avios are credited quickly, often within days
It’s usually far cheaper than buying Avios outright
You can top up exact amounts, even small ones
Used well, it’s a handy tactical tool. And out of the three options of Boosting, Subscribing and Buying, it's the one that makes the most financial sense. We'll have the link to take you to boost your Avios at the bottom.

A Note of Caution: More Boost Doesn't Mean Better Value
This is where things get a little counter-intuitive.
You’d expect the biggest boost to offer the best value per Avios, but that’s not always the case.
Looking at the effective earn rates that have appeared in my account:
100% boost → 104 Avios per £1
200% boost → 106 Avios per £1
300% boost → 109 Avios per £1
400% boost → 109 Avios per £1
500% boost → just 101 Avios per £1

So despite the headline number, the 500% boost actually offers worse value for me than several lower options. This is because if your wish to boost above 300,000 Avios in one year, then the rate you're offered worsens to £0.0177 per Avios, from £0.0092 per Avios if you were to boost your Avios by 300% below 300,000 Avios in a year.
So, if you’re not checking, it’s very easy to assume “more is better” when here, it's not.
But for Sam, it's even worse, but that's because he's just had quite a good Avios year.

The Takeaway (For Now)
This promotion can make a lot of sense if:
You’re just short of a redemption
Reward availability has appeared and timing matters
You’ve earned a decent amount of Avios already this year and are feeling boogie
But it’s not a blanket “boost everything” deal, especially when the pricing structure worsens at the top end.
We’ll break all of this down properly in our full Avios Boost deep dive next week, including when it’s smart to use and when you should walk away.
For now, the key takeaway is simple: check the value per Avios — because with Boost Avios, bigger isn’t always better.
