British Airways Are Giving Away Two Lots of One Million Avios — But There's a Catch

British Airways Club has launched a prize draw offering two lucky members a million Avios each, timed to "celebrate partnership milestones with Finnair and Loganair" (whatever that means). It's a big headline, and in theory entering is simple. But there's a wrinkle worth knowing about before you get your hopes up, like I did …

A person looks through binoculars at the NYC skyline. Text reads "Great partnerships open a world of possibility."

The offer

To enter, you need to link your British Airways Club account with either a Finnair Plus account or a Loganair Loyalty account (or both) via the Transfer Avios page on the Avios website. Do that within the offer window and you're automatically entered into the draw for one million Avios.

The entry period runs until 11:59pm on 15 June 2026, and it's only open to British Airways Club members.

The catch not mentioned in the marketing email

Firstly, Helena received this offer into her inbox, but at the time of writing, we cannot see it anywhere on the BA or Avios websites. We've confirmed it's a real competition and not a phishing attempt, but the email may have been targeted at a certain group.

We got in touch with the Avios team to clarify whether members who already had their accounts linked were eligible, given that the entry mechanism is, well, linking accounts. This offer is only for those who link their accounts during the offer period. If your British Airways Club account is already connected to Finnair Plus or Loganair (this is me), you're not in the draw.

Unfortunately, the people most likely to appreciate a million Avios are the ones unable to qualify. Yes, I know that this competition will have been created to encourage activity across the Avios network, but, where's our entry for already being loyal?

And before you ask, there's no mechanism mentioned for unlinking and re-linking to game the system, and frankly we wouldn't recommend trying lest you get your account blocked for 50 years (yes, that's a thing!).

Why would you want to link your Avios accounts together?

Even without the prize draw, linking your accounts is worth doing. It lets you view all your Avios balances from one place, and move those Avios between them whenever you like instantly.

The airlines you can link are:

  • British Airways Club

  • Iberia Plus

  • Aer Lingus AerClub

  • Finnair Plus

  • Qatar Airways Privilege Club

  • Loganair Loyalty

  • Vueling Club

Why bother? Because each programme prices its redemptions differently, and the gap between them can be huge on the exact same seat. Shifting your balance around means you can always book through whichever programme is charging the fewest Avios, rather than being stuck with whatever pot your points happen to sit in.

It's also how you get to the best sweet spots in the Avios ecosystem, for example, Loganair's half price Avios sales, or Qatar Airways to Australia and New Zealand for only 80,000 Avios in business (as these go on sale before they're released on the BA website), and so on.

So if you're new to linking your accounts, you're getting a prize draw entry for 1,000,000 Avios, and an easy way to save yourself some of those Avios when you're looking to spend them.

How to enter

The T's&C's were long, but there is no opt-in, and this is all you have to do:

  1. Hold or open a British Airways Club account

  2. Hold or open a Finnair Plus or Loganair Loyalty account

  3. Link them at avios.com/en-GB/move/transfer-avios before 23:59 on 15 June 2026

That's it. One entry per eligible member, winner drawn after the offer period closes.
