British Airways is flying to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar from May 2027, and more!
British Airways is adding two new destinations in Tanzania next summer, and one plane will fly to both.
From 29 May 2027, British Airways will fly from Gatwick to Kilimanjaro three times a week, then continue to Zanzibar before heading home. The route runs until 31 October, which covers the school holidays and the main safari season.
But that's not all...
How the Kilimanjaro/Zanzibar route works
This is a triangle route, which means the plane doesn't come back the way it went. It flies London to Kilimanjaro, then Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar, then Zanzibar straight back to London. All three flights are BA2163, on a 777 with Club World (business), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and World Traveller (economy).
The outbound flight leaves Gatwick at 09:05 on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. It lands in Kilimanjaro at 20:20 local time and in Zanzibar at 22:25.
The flight home leaves Zanzibar at 00:25 that same night, and lands at Gatwick at 07:55.

Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar
The hour-long hop is priced like BA's Caribbean island hops, such as Barbados to Grenada. The plane doesn't fly back from Zanzibar to Kilimanjaro, so this is one-way only:

Everything else changing next summer
Buenos Aires gets a daily non-stop flight from Heathrow, which continues to Santiago.
Rio de Janeiro stays daily but no longer continues to Buenos Aires, so every seat on the flight is for Rio.
San José, Costa Rica, becomes year-round at three flights a week. It was previously winter only.
Cape Town goes from daily to 10 flights a week over the summer.
Las Vegas goes from 13 to 14 flights a week.
Gatwick to Barbados, which launches this October, continues through summer 2027 with onward flights to Grenada, Guyana and Tobago.
Gatwick to St Lucia becomes a dedicated route at four flights a week. Its old onward stops are now served via Barbados.
No word as to when seats go on sale, but we will let you know ASAP.
