British Airways just launched two Avios offers at once: here's what you need to know

British Airways has announced two separate promotions today, both worth knowing about if you've got Avios or you're planning to buy some. One is a 40% bonus on purchased or gifted Avios. The other lets you use fewer Avios to unlock the same savings on BA Holidays packages. They run on different timelines and work in completely different ways, so let's take them one at a time.

40% bonus Avios when you buy or gift

If you need to top up your balance to hit a redemption target, this is the one to look at.

The offer

• Buy or gift Avios and get a 40% bonus on top

• Minimum purchase: 2,000 Avios

• On every 2,000 Avios bought, you get an extra 800 Avios free

• Maximum purchase: 200,000 Avios (the bonus Avios don't count towards this limit)

• Runs from today, 9 July 2026, until 23:59 BST on 16 July 2026

• Available to British Airways Club members globally, excpet Germany, entschuldigung meine freunde!

Is it worth it?

As always with buying Avios, it depends what you're redeeming for. A 40% bonus is an ok uplift, it's the standard we see from BA, but you're still paying real money for points, so it only makes sense if you've already worked out you're short of Avios for a specific flight or redemption and buying is cheaper than the cash fare. Pay with Avios: fewer Avios needed on BA Holidays packages

Separately, British Airways Holidays has launched a short-window offer that makes your Avios stretch further on package holidays when you choose to part-pay with Avios.

The offer

• Avios are worth 33% more towards when your part-pay eligible Flight + Hotel and Flight + Car packages

• Booking window: 9 to 14 July 2026 (six days only)

• Travel window: 9 July 2026 to 27 March 2027

• Available on all destinations

What that looks like in practice

BA's own example is a four-night New York holiday with World Traveller (economy) flights. Normally, saving £242 on that package would take 56,275 Avios. During this offer, the same £242 saving takes just 42,206 Avios – a difference of just over 14,000 Avios.

Bear in mind the exact numbers will vary depending on your Avios balance, the package you pick, cabin class, destination, and how many people are on the booking. The promotional pricing shows up on the "Add Extras" page during booking, so you'll need to get that far into the process to see your specific numbers.
