British Airways unveils new A380 Cabins: First, Club World, Premium Economy and Economy
I love it when airlines expand, grow and shake up what they do. So when British Airways announced new First Class suites and a full refresh for its dated A380s, I was thrilled. Sorry to say it, A380, I adore you, but the BA interior has been looking rough for a while. If you're curious, here's my experience in World Traveller and World Traveller Plus earlier this year.

Well, BA has now launched the cabin in person, and it has shown off the new seats going into every cabin, from World Traveller (Economy) all the way up to First. Every single cabin is getting an upgrade, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for my favourite bird.
What is British Airways doing to its A380s?
Let's be honest, the BA A380s were crying out for a refresh. Back in November 2024, BA first announced a bold plan to strip out and retrofit the whole A380 fleet with a new First Class suite specifically designed for the A380. Now we know the plan goes much further, with new seats in every cabin.
This is one of the biggest cabin makeovers any airline has taken on. Each aircraft involves installing more than 35,000 individual parts. The retrofit includes new seats, new inflight entertainment screens, and redesigned galleys and stairways. Can I just say the stairways look gorgeous, well done BA.

The first retrofitted A380 is expected to take to the skies in the coming months, and that will be the first in a fleet wide transformation.
When will the new BA A380 cabins enter service?
BA has only said the first completed aircraft will fly "in the coming months", so there is no route or date yet. Some of the onboard extras are arriving sooner, though.
What | When |
New First dining service (whole long haul fleet) | From 1 October |
New First sleepwear and slippers | From 1 October |
New Swaine First amenity kit | From 6 October |
First retrofitted A380 in service | In the coming months |
So you do not need to wait for the new A380 to try some of the First upgrades. They are rolling out across the long haul fleet first.
What is the new BA First suite on the A380 like?
This is the star of the show. BA wants the new First suite to feel like a modern luxury hotel, with home comforts and a few British touches thrown in at 35,000ft. The seat was designed and built by experts from across Great Britain and Ireland.
If you are travelling with someone and sitting in the centre seats, the divider opens up to make a shared lounge. Stowable tables allow for what BA calls "buddy dining".

There is also a mini bar built into the seat, stocked with snacks and still and sparkling water, so no more waiting for the crew to pop by.

What is the new BA First dining experience?
BA says it is going for restaurant dining in the sky, and the menu certainly sounds the part.
The new "From the Grill" concept lets you build your own meal from "premium proteins" such as British roast rack of lamb or grilled salmon, plus sides and sauces. If you would rather leave it to the chefs, there is a selection of Signature Mains too.
The drinks list is just as fun. Bollinger La Grande Année is on the Champagne menu, and there is a curated gin selection including a Classic Gin Tonic, Rosemary and Orange, Spanish Flair and a 0.0% option. A Showerings triple vintage cider is also there for anyone who fancies something different from wine.
The tableware has had a glow up as well. Think contemporary stoneware and fine bone china, cutlery by Studio William, and wine glasses developed with Richard Brendon and wine expert Jancis Robinson. There are pinch pots, a signature serving tray and a dual purpose stand for afternoon tea, all finished with the Speedmarque.
A refreshed First Service Specialist training programme is being rolled out to all First trained cabin crew, aimed at more personal, intuitive service.
How will sleep in BA First improve?
Bedtime is getting the hotel treatment. When you are ready to sleep, the crew prepare your suite with a luxury mattress, a lightweight cotton duvet and a newly designed pillow. During the day you can settle under a woven herringbone blanket with a navy cushion.
There is also new cool touch navy sleepwear featuring BA's bespoke tartan, plus slippers. Pyjamas and slippers on a plane are always a win in my book, so happy to see these getting an upgrade.

What is in the new BA First amenity kit?
BA has teamed up with British heritage house Swaine for a unisex amenity kit inspired by the suitcases early air travellers carried. It comes in royal blue or cream and is filled with skincare from Wildsmith. Inside you will find a face mist, hand and body lotion, ceramide multi balm, lip balm, face cream and an overnight mask. The kit includes a Circadian Rhythm collection designed to help with hydration and comfort from day into night.

This for me, is unfortunately a disappointment. Whilst Wildsmith is a lovely brand, the products themselves are not as good as the Elemis Pro-Collagen range, and I’m really saddened to see BA move away from such a fantastic partnership as the Elemis one.
Amenity kits are of course completely subjective, but when going up against the likes of Qatar and Emirates, you need to pull out the big guns. The range and quality of the Elemis products put it on par with all the other airlines, but hey, I'm just a self-confessed skincare addict.

What is new in BA Club World on the A380?
The A380 gets an evolution of the Club Suite found on most of their long-haul fleet, with a refreshed look using BA's blue, red and cream palette. Following customer feedback, there is more storage and better functionality. I have to say the pops of red look fab, plus the use of various different materials really adds to that premium feel.

The aircraft will have the world's largest business class cabin, with 106 Club Suite seats across the whole upper deck (the seat map looks rather comical if I'm honest, but I'm not one to say no to a Club Suite).

That sounds huge, but it is split into four distinct zones, so it should feel more intimate than the number suggests. There are also dedicated dwell areas, Club Kitchens and reimagined galleys where you can stretch your legs and relax.

Club World passengers will also get new amenity kits in four designs created by British artists through Rise Art, filled with products from British wellness brand anatomē. These rolled out earlier this year.

What's new in World Traveller Plus and World Traveller on the BA A380?
Premium economy and economy have not been forgotten, which I love to see.
In World Traveller Plus, seats get larger entertainment screens and privacy wings, plus new bedding and pillows. There is also a new reusable amenity kit designed as a tote bag you can use after the flight. It includes a Dr. PAWPAW moisturising balm, a dental kit, socks and an eye mask.

In World Traveller, you get larger screens, wider seats and upgraded bedding. The new pillows have a herringbone pattern and extra filling, and the blankets are plusher, in BA's signature blue with red Speedmarque detailing.

Is BA improving its lounges too?
Yes.
BA has also unveiled the next stage of its global lounge transformation with a new lounge in the T5C satellite terminal at Heathrow due to be open by 2028. Whilst the furthest away from the main terminal, the B and C gates are where the A380 operates from, so this will offer a great option to passengers departing on this aircraft.
This lounge will be completed in the same style as the well received Miami lounge.

The Arrivals lounge will also see a revamp, with a new Concorde Arrivals for First passengers. Lastly, a new First Class check-in area will open within Terminal 3 in conjunction with American Airlines. Considering that BA operates no flights with First Class from T3, and American is cutting its Flagship First product, this will be a facility dedicated to those with Gold/oneworld Emerald status.
We will likely cover the global changes to BA's lounges in a separate article.
My take on the new BA A380 interiors
I am excited. The old A380 cabins really were dated, and a full nose to tail refresh with a new seat in every class is exactly what this aircraft needed. I will be watching closely for the first route announcement, because you can bet your bottom Avios I am going to try and be on that first flight.
Whilst overwhelmingly good, this announcement does come with my own personal disappointment of the First amenity kits. Oh BA! Why did you have to do this to me?
British Airways typically operates the A380 to Singapore, Johannesburg, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dubai, so k
Which cabin are you most excited to try? Let me know!
