Delta Cancels Gatwick to JFK for 2026
Delta Airlines has announced the end of its seasonal service between New York JFK and Gatwick, with the final flights operating on September 7-8, 2025, and not returning next year.
The route, which launched as a summer seasonal service on April 10, 2023, offered daily connections with flight DL198 departing JFK at 11:30pm and arriving at Gatwick at 12:00pm the following day, while the return flight DL199 departed Gatwick at 2:00pm, arriving back in New York at 4:55pm the same day. With the confirmation that British Airways will also cease Gatwick to JFK service, this leaves Norse Atlantic as the only airline operating between Gatwick and JFK.

Delta has confirmed that it has no plans to resume the Gatwick service in 2026, marking a permanent withdrawal from this particular route after just over two years of operation. Delta's initial launch of the Gatwick service was part of a broader strategy to expand its London capacity beyond slot-constrained Heathrow, where landing rights are extremely limited and expensive. With Heathrow operating at near-maximum capacity and few opportunities for growth, Delta had hoped Gatwick would provide additional access to the lucrative London market. However, the route's cancellation suggests that passengers continued to prefer the convenience and connectivity of Heathrow, despite Gatwick's lower costs and Delta's efforts to establish a viable alternative gateway to the British capital.
