If you’re holding the American Express Platinum Card, there’s a good chance you’re due a treat or two – but only if you act fast.
With the end of June rapidly approaching, it’s time for a friendly reminder: your American Express Platinum dining credit and Harvey Nichols credit refresh every six months, and if you haven’t used the January–June allotment yet, you’ve got until Sunday 30 June to put them to good use.

For those wo don't know, the American Express Platinum is one of their premium card offerings. In addition to the dining and Harvey Nichols credit, you also get a Priority Pass card for unlimited lounge access within the Priority Pass network, travel insurance, and hotel and car hire benefits. The sign up bonus for this card is 50,000 American Express Membership Reward points, which can then be transferred into Avios, Virgin Points, or a host of other airlines too. There are occasionally increased sign up bonuses for this card as high as 100,000 points. We will of course cover this when they announce the next bonus.
Don’t let your benefits go to waste. Here’s everything you need to know – and a few ideas for how to make the most of them before the deadline.
What You Get with the American Express Platinum
The Platinum Card from American Express comes with a hefty annual fee of £650, but for those who play it smart, the value it offers can easily outweigh the cost. Two of the easiest-to-overlook benefits are the twice yearly dining credit and the Harvey Nichols credit, both of which refresh biannually and can save you up to £500 per year combined.
Let’s break it down.
1. The £400 Dining Credit – Don’t Miss Your Slice
Platinum Cardmembers receive £200 in dining credit every six months – that’s £200 between January and June, and another £200 between July and December.

Where You Can Use It:
This is a fun one, because of the £200, £100 of it is for UK based dining and the other £100 is for abroad. We’ve already used up all of ours, we went to SushiSamba in London earlier this month and Helena went to Benoit in New York back in May.
A full and regularly updated list of both UK participating restaurants and global ones, is available on the American Express website.
The Small Print (that actually matters):
You must enrol in the benefit through your Amex online account before using it.
The credit applies automatically after eligible spend – usually within a few days.
One credit per account, not per card – so even if you have Supplementary Cards, the limit is across the whole account.
The credit can only be used by the main account holders card. Supplementary cards will not work.
Credit resets on 1st July, so unused amounts from the first half of the year do not roll over.
Last-Minute Ideas:
Secure a Friday night reservation now! If your chosen restaurant accepts Amex and is on the
eligible list, you’re good to go.
2. The £100 Harvey Nichols Credit – Time for a Luxe Little Splurge
This one's often overlooked, but it's a gem. Platinum Cardmembers receive £50 credit every six months to use in-store or online at Harvey Nichols – again, once from January to June, and again from July to December.

How It Works:
Enrol online at the American Express website or app
Use the main account card to pay
The £50 will be credited back to your account – usually within 5 working days.
Terms to Keep in Mind:
Again, it’s £50 per account, not per card. Supplementary cards will not work.
Can be used online or in-store.
Only valid at Harvey Nichols – not at associated brands or concessions that don't process the payment directly.
Gift Cards are not included in this offer
Why This Matters
Between the dining and shopping credits, you’re looking at a potential £250 in value every six months. And while we’re all for aspirational rewards and luxury travel, cash-equivalent perks like these can have a real, immediate impact on how you offset your card’s annual fee.
But the key here is use it or lose it.
Final Word: Set That Reminder - Don’t Let Your American Express Platinum Credits Expire
Time’s ticking. Don’t Let Your American Express Platinum Credits Expire. Sunday 30 June is the final day to redeem both the £200 dining credit and the £50 Harvey Nichols credit for the January–June period. After that, the balance resets – and anything unused will vanish faster than a reservation at your favourite pub garden on a sunny weekend.
So go on – make the booking, click add to cart, and savour the rewards you’ve already earned.
