Right, listen up fellow Avios collectors, because I've got some news that's going to make your October slightly more interesting.
From the 1st to the 14th of October, Le Shuttle (Eurotunnel to you and me) are running a promotion that's so straightforward, that I actually had to check the terms twice to make sure I wasn't missing something. Spoiler alert: I wasn't.

The Numbers (Because That's Why We're Here)
Until the 14th October you can earn double Avios with your bookings on the Eurotunnel.
All you've got to do is use promotional code 25AVIOSOCT when booking, and you'll earn:
6 Avios per £1 on Day Trip, Overnight, Short Stay Saver, Standard, and Standard Plus tickets
12 Avios per £1 on Short Stay Flexiplus and Flexiplus tickets (these allow you to be flexible with the trains your travel on)
And yes, that includes taxes. Which, frankly, is refreshing.
Normally you'll earn 3 Avios per £1 on standard fares, and 6 per £1 on Flexiplus. So there's no smoke and mirrors, no "up to" nonsense. Just double.
Why This Actually Matters
Here's the thing about Eurotunnel that people often forget: you're not buying individual tickets. You're buying a vehicle space. Which means you, your partner, your kids, your grumpy teenager, your dog who gets anxious on planes, and approximately seventeen suitcases you definitely don't need - all travel on one ticket, potentially saving yourself lots of money.
Let's say you book a Short Stay Flexiplus return for a long weekend in France. That might run you £250. At 12 Avios per pound, that's 3,000 Avios in your account. For a family of four, that works out at 750 Avios per person. Not bad for a 35-minute journey where you never leave your car.

Compare that to flying from London to Paris where you'd earn maybe 250 Avios per person on an economy ticket (if lucky), but then you're paying for four separate tickets, checking bags, dealing with liquid restrictions, and entertaining children in an airport. I know which option sounds more appealing.

How to Get Double Avios for the Eurotunnel
This is remarkably simple:
Create a Club LeShuttle account if you haven't got one. This is free and takes about three minutes. You need this to collect any Avios at all, so don't skip this bit.
Book your journey between 1st and 14th October. When you get to the Vehicle Details page, enter the promo code 25AVIOSOCT.
Add your British Airways Executive Club number on the Booking Confirmation page.
Wait 30 days after you complete your journey, and your Avios will appear.
The Reality Check
Of course, this only works if you were planning to go to Europe anyway. I'm not suggesting you book a Eurotunnel trip you don't need just to earn Avios. That would be insane, and I'm not in the business of encouraging insane financial decisions. But if you do, maybe stop in Calais to fill the boot up with wine?
But if you've been thinking about a Channel crossing, whether that's for the school holidays, or loosely planned trip in October, this promotion means you'd be silly not to book during this fortnight.
I spend a lot of time looking at promotions that require you to jump through seventeen hoops while standing on one leg during a full moon. This is not one of those.
This is a straight bonus on something you might actually want to do.
Remember, to get double Avios on the Eurotunnel, book between 1st and 14th October and use code 25AVIOSOCT.
Right, I'm off to price up a weekend in the South of France. The wine won't drink itself.
