easyJet Summer 2026 on Sale This Week
EasyJet will release its summer 2026 flight schedule for sale next week on Tuesday 22nd July, offering travellers the chance to secure significantly discounted fares for trips between 15th June and 13th September 2026. EasyJet operates on dynamic pricing, meaning tickets are cheapest when demand is lowest, which can concur with the moment flights are released. However, these bargain prices typically increase within hours as bookings accumulate, so speed is essential for securing the best deals.

According to Money Saving Expert, millions of seats will be available, similar to last year when 18 million seats went on sale, with 10 million involving UK routes. While EasyJet hasn't confirmed an exact release time, flights have historically appeared on their website as early as 5-8am. Our recommendation is to research typical prices for your desired routes beforehand to recognize genuine bargains.

UK lifts ban on Pakistani airlines after five years
The UK has ended its five-year ban on Pakistani airlines, allowing them to apply for permission to resume flights to Britain. The ban was implemented in 2020 following a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) crash that killed 97 people, which prompted Pakistan to investigate the validity of pilot licenses issued in the country. This move particularly impacted PIA, which has historically been Pakistan's only carrier operating long-haul routes to the UK and Europe.

The ban cost PIA an estimated $144 million annually in lost revenue from what the airline considers some of its most profitable routes to London, Manchester, and Birmingham. PIA still holds valuable landing slots at London Heathrow that could be reactivated. Initially PIA plan to resume flights to the UK with three weekly flights on the Islamabad-Manchester route, pending schedule approval from authorities.
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi to Close
Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will cease operations in September 2025, marking the end of a joint venture between the Hungarian low-cost carrier and Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company that never achieved profitability. The subsidiary operated 12 Airbus A321s from Zayed International Airport, serving approximately 30 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, and Europe, representing about 5% of Wizz Air's overall network. CEO József Váradi explained the decision as part of a strategic refocus on the company's core Central and Eastern European markets, acknowledging they had been "underinvesting" in their traditional stronghold.

The Abu Dhabi operation faced multiple structural challenges that made profitability elusive from the start. The harsh desert climate caused aircraft engines to degrade faster than expected, reducing operational efficiency and increasing maintenance costs. Additionally, Wizz Air was denied the promised market access to India and Pakistan that had been crucial to the original business case, severely limiting growth potential. Recent geopolitical tensions and airspace closures in the region further dampened prospects, prompting the airline to cut its losses.
