Match British Airways Status to Air France / KLM in 2026: Here's How

Hot off the back of cancelling the majority of their flights due to snow and fog, and then having to beg for de-icing supplies from Germany just to stop the rest of Schiphol airport from collapsing, Air France/KLM have decided they'd like to poach some members of the BA Club, and I'm sure some of you will happily oblige. KLM alone fly to 19 UK airports, giving them more coverage across the country by a huge margin compared to BA.

As of 14th January 2026, Air France/KLM are prepared to match your British Airways status to the equivalent within the Flying Blue scheme. BA Bronze matches to Silver. BA Silver matches to Gold. And BA Gold matches to Platinum.

You get one year of status upon approval. Let's say that your BA status year ends March 31st, and you're unable to fly enough to retain Silver. Match your status to Flying Blue and you'll have Silver equivalent status into 2027 with Air France/KLM.

The benefits do vary for each tier, compared your British Airways status. The biggest difference is that free seat selection at booking is only a benefit for Platinum, equivalent of BA Gold.

Flying Blue Gold

Flying Blue Platinum

These benefits do not just apply on Air France/KLM, but to the rest of their Skyteam partners. This includes Virgin Atlantic, Delta, SAS, Air Europe, Korean Air, and many more.

Lastly, this matching of status is run through Status Match, and they do charge a fee for their airline matchmaking services. The last time this offer was run in April of last year it was £99 regardless of which tier you were matching into. This is year is slightly different:

  • £79 for Silver

  • £149 for Gold

  • £249 for Platinum

Once you apply, you will hear back within three working days, and if you are successful, then your status within your Flying Blue account will update within five days of approval.

I think this status match from Air France/KLM for BA Club members is still a great deal. Under the new BA Club regime, earning status has become a lot harder. So why not reap the rewards of your airline status for another year with Air France/KLM.

Is it typically possible to run multiple status matches across alliances if available?

Replying to

That's correct. In theory say you earned Gold with BA, but weren't going to requalify. You could match it to Air France/KLM for their version of BA Gold. Then when that was coming up to expire after a year, match that status to a different airline, and so on, and so on... Sometimes with a status match airlines ask to see that you've earned your status via flying, and not via a status match, so just check the T's&C's
