Nectar and Avios are Running an Easter Bonus This April, and It Works Both Ways

Avios and Nectar have teamed up to offer bonus points on conversions between the two this Easter. The promo runs until 30 April 2026, works in both directions, and the bonus you receive depends on whether you convert manually or set up auto-conversion.

Quick reminder about Avios and Nectar
Nectar is Sainsbury's loyalty scheme. You earn Nectar points on your weekly shop, at Argos, through various Nectar app offers, Esso garages, and a handful of other partners. Those points can then be converted into Avios. As we've covered before, if you do a regular Sainsbury's shop, or regularly fill up at Esso, you're could already be sitting on a small pile of potential Avios.
The standard rate is 400 Nectar points = 250 Avios. You can also go the other way at 400 Avios = 400 Nectar points, though we'd rarely recommend converting Avios into Nectar under normal circumstances. Avios redeemed for flights are typically worth more than used as Nectar points in Sainsbury's, more on that below.

Nectar to Avios
The standard 400 Nectar = 250 Avios rate is getting a boost:
Auto-conversion: 20% bonus, so 400 Nectar points = 300 Avios
Manual conversion: 10% bonus, so 400 Nectar points = 275 Avios
A Nectar point is worth 0.5p at Sainsbury's, so 400 Nectar points is worth £2 off your shopping. But convert those same 400 Nectar points into Avios and use them on a flight, and you can do better than £2 of value. At a conservative 1p per Avios, the standard 250 Avios you'd receive are already worth £2.50. With the 20% bonus, that becomes 300 Avios, or £3 at the same rate.
There is no cap on how many Avios you can get from this bonus. So the more Nectar points you convert, the more you gain. We covered a similar 20% bonus on Nectar auto-conversions back in September 2025, so this is not the first time Nectar and Avios have run this kind of promotion.
One important deadline: to qualify for the 20% auto-conversion bonus, you need to have your British Airways Club and Nectar accounts linked before 23:59 BST on 25 April 2026, not 30 April. If your accounts are not yet linked, I'd recommend doing it now rather than leaving it to the last minute.

Avios to Nectar
For the first time, you can get a bonus converting your Avios to Nectar:
Auto-conversion: 20% bonus, so 400 Avios = 480 Nectar points
Manual conversion: 10% bonus, so 400 Avios = 440 Nectar points
There is a cap in this direction though with the bonus only applying to the first 50,000 Avios you convert, meaning the maximum bonus you can receive is 10,000 Nectar points on auto-conversion, or 5,000 Nectar points on a manual conversion.
Is this worth doing? 400 Avios converted with the 20% bonus gives you 480 Nectar points, worth £2.40 at Sainsbury's. Those same 400 Avios on a flight could easily be worth £4 or more.
If you have a large Avios balance you are not actively working towards redeeming and you would like something back from it, the 20% bonus from auto-converting makes this deal slightly better.
I'll be keeping our Avios for future holidays though.
What to do
If you are not yet set up to convert Nectar to Avios, you will need to link your British Airways Club and Nectar accounts first. For the 20% bonus in either direction, you will need that done before 25 April. Manual conversions still get 10% right up until 30 April.
I will definitely be transferring our Nectar points to Avios during this promo. Why wouldn't I? It's essentially free points on offer, and I never turn down free points.
