If it seems like we talk about Qatar Airways a lot at Points Well Made, well it's because they are one of the most dynamic and exciting airlines out there, with cutting edge tech on their aircraft, and offering some genuinely good deals. Well, Qatar Airways has launched a promotion that might actually be worth your attention - up to 20% off with some decent bonus Avios thrown in.

The Deal Breakdown
The savings are real, covering Qatar Airways' entire network with up to 20% off. They're highlighting some properly desirable destinations as examples, the Maldives (yes, those overwater bungalows you've been scrolling past on Instagram), Colombo for something a bit different, and Singapore, which frankly never gets old. But the discount applies across their full route map, so whether you're eyeing up Bangkok, Tokyo, or even somewhere closer to home, you're potentially in luck.
The discount applies to bookings made by 6th August 2025, so you've got about a week to make your mind up. Travel periods run from 15th August through to 10th December 2025. So, you can avoid the peak summer madness whilst catching some of the best weather windows. Bali in October? Lovely. Maldives in November? Perfect. Dubai in December? Ideal.
The Avios Angle
Here's where it gets interesting from a points perspective. Qatar's throwing you 10,000 bonus Avios if you fly to Australia, and 5,000 bonus Avios for everywhere else. You'll need to log into your Privilege Club account and use code UKIAVIOS when booking. Please, please remember this bit, as Qatar won't retrospectively credit the bonus if you simply forget.
It's not life-changing, but 10,000 Avios gets you a short-haul return within Europe or a decent chunk towards something more exotic.
The Reality Check
Before you get too excited, we need to talk about the practicalities. The blackout periods are fairly extensive and will catch out anyone hoping for half-term getaways. From UK airports, you're looking at outbound blackouts covering most of August (15th-17th August from Heathrow and Gatwick, extending to 20th August from Birmingham and Manchester). October half-term is also out, with 14th-26th October blocked from Heathrow, and similar dates from other airports.
The Christmas period is predictably blocked (10th-23rd December outbound), and the return blackouts are equally restrictive. Coming back in late August through early September is largely off-limits, as are the first two weeks of January 2026. Edinburgh gets hit particularly hard with limited availability.
Basically, if you're tied to school holidays or traditional holiday periods, this offer isn't designed for you. Qatar's clearly targeting flexible travellers who can work around these restrictions. But if you've got that flexibility, particularly for autumn travel, there's genuine value here.

Worth Booking?
The combination of immediate savings and future Avios makes this more compelling than the usual airline sales. If you've been considering any of these destinations anyway, Qatar's essentially giving you a reason to pull the trigger now rather than procrastinating for another six months.
