Sala VIP Lounge Mediterraneo Module C Review: Palma de Mallorca Airport

If you're flying out of Palma de Mallorca, the Sala VIP Mediterráneo in Module C is a nice reward for the trek down to this end of the airport. It's recently been refurbished, and it's now one of the better Sala VIP lounges I've been to in Spain.

Where it is, and how to get there

The lounge is in Module C, Level 0, between gates C52 and C68. After security, follow the signs for Module C past duty-free. Word of warning: Palma is not a small airport. Budget at least fifteen minutes to walk there.

The lounge serves both Schengen and non-Schengen flights, which is useful for UK travellers heading home.

Opening hours and access

Opening hours vary throughout the year. At the time of my visit, the lounge was open from 5am to midnight. Check the Aena website for current times before you go.

You can enter up to four hours before your scheduled flight departure, though access can be cut to three hours during peak periods like Christmas and New Year.

Access is included with:

  • A business class ticket on an eligible airline

  • Priority Pass (read our review here)

  • LoungeKey

  • DragonPass

Walk-in rates are €48 per adult and €22.20 per child aged 6 to 10. Children under 6 enter free when accompanied by an adult. It's not the cheapest walk-in rate going, but it's reasonable for what you get, particularly if you're facing a long wait.

So, how is it?

I visited at 10am on a Friday in September. The lounge was busy but not full, and there was no issue finding a seat.

The design is modern and clean. Large windows and skylights bring in plenty of natural light, and the wooden ceiling features add a bit of warmth without feeling overdone.

As usual for a Sala VIP lounge, they've raided the local Ikea for the furniture. The layout works well, split into zones: grey and yellow armchairs for relaxing, a dining area with more colourful seating, higher tables if you prefer, and a large meeting room off to the side. I spent most of my time in a recliner facing out onto the apron.

People relax in a modern lounge with gray and yellow chairs. They're chatting and using devices. The room is bright with large windows.

If you've spent any time in a British Airways lounge, you'll know that if there's space, they will put a chair in it. It's nice to see that the seating areas here are contained, and that maximum capacity isn't the number one metric.

WiFi was free, fast, and available throughout. Showers are also available if you need to freshen up before a long flight.

The one thing that could be improved is power. Sockets are limited, and I ended up leaving my devices charging on a wall outlet while I sat elsewhere.

Food and drink

There was no hot food, but the cold offering was generous. Fresh sandwiches, pastries, and cakes were all well-stocked. The fridges had a good variety of soft drinks, smoothies, juices, beer, wine, and some Cava (photo below). Alternative milks were also available in the fridge.

Gluten-free options are plentiful here with gluten-free bread and beer available. Allergens are clearly marked on each dish, which is more than you'll get in most lounges.

It's all self-service, but the staff were attentive, quickly clearing tables and topping up the food and drinks if supplies ever ran low.

The verdict

The Sala VIP Mediterráneo is a perfectly pleasant place to spend an hour before your flight. The space, the food, and the drinks offering make it a worthwhile stop if you've got lounge access anyway.

Palma is such a large airport that I would just go to the lounge in your "module", but if your flight departs from Module C, this isn't a bad place to spend some time.
