Three bonus Avios offers worth saving to your British Airways American Express cards

In the latest instalment of the ongoing run of 25th anniversary activity from Amex and BA, we have three new Avios offers to load to your British Airways American Express cards. Admittedly this isn't as exciting as a bargain Avios-only flight to New York, but at least this one won't be horrifically oversubscribed...

There's a route to bonus Avios for all British Airways American Express cardholders, whether that's through hotels, everyday shopping or a wine delivery.

Here's how each Amex Avios offer works, and what to check before you save anything to your card.

What are the three Amex Avios offers?

Each offer can be found on both of the British Airways American Express cards and needs to be saved individually through your Amex account before you spend.

All three run to the same deadline: spend has to be billed to your card by 7 October 2026.

How does the Amex Avios Hotels and car hire offer work?

This one rewards you simply for booking through Avios rather than a normal booking site. Every £1 spent on a hotel or hire car through avios.com earns 5 bonus Avios, stacked on top of whatever you'd already collect at the standard rate. There's no minimum spend and no cap mentioned in the terms, which makes it the most flexible of the three.

We're already big fans of booking with Avios Hotels anyway, so this is a nice little bonus for us.

A few practical points worth knowing. The offer only covers pre-paid hotel rooms, experiences and car bookings, so pay-at-hotel rates won't count. Spend has to be in GBP, and anything paid using Avios rather than cash won't qualify. Buy now, pay later and finance purchases are excluded too.

What is the Avios Shop offer of £150 of spend to get 1,000 Avios?

Nice and simple this one. Spend £150 or more, in one transaction or several, and you'll collect 1,000 bonus Avios once per card.

This promotion is limited to spend within The Edit by Avios Shop, IAG Loyalty's online retail platform, and excludes Avios earned via online shopping with brands (formerly the Avios eStore).

The exclusions list is longer here than for the other two offers, so it's worth reading before assuming a purchase counts. Avios top-ups, gift vouchers, boosts and subscriptions are excluded, along with The Wine Flyer, Avios Hotels and car hire, LeShuttle, Pizza Express, reward flights and upgrades, in-store purchases, travel insurance, airport transfers, airline partners, and anything in the credit card, banking or utility categories.

Purchases made through the merchant's mobile app are also excluded, so this one needs to be done through a browser.

What do you get from The Wine Flyer Avios offer?

The Wine Flyer offer is the most generous per pound spent. Spend £99 or more at The Wine Flyer and you'll collect 3,000 bonus Avios, once per card, working out to over 30 Avios per £1.

This one is for UK delivery only, and it excludes the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland. Mail and telephone orders don't qualify either (who is still mailing an order in 2026?), so the order needs to be placed and paid for online.

What's the catch with all three?

The same handful of conditions apply across the board. Spend has to be made in GBP on the card the offer is saved to, including if that card sits in a mobile wallet. If your card is replaced after fraud, you'll likely need to re-save any offer that's still live. Payments routed through certain payment facilitators, such as some marketplaces or mobile card readers, may not count towards the spend threshold, and cancelled or refunded transactions won't count at all.

Avios typically show up on your statement within 30 days of an eligible transaction, though Amex notes it can occasionally take longer. From there, they transfer to your British Airways Club account on your usual transfer date. If Avios go missing, you can report it directly to Amex.

Should you save all three?

If you're planning a hotel or car hire booking anyway, the Avios Hotels and car hire offer is fantastic, since there's no minimum spend and no real downside to saving it. The Wine Flyer offers the strongest return per pound if you were going to order wine regardless. The Avios Shop offer is weak. Prices aren't always competitive, and given you should value 1,000 Avios at £10, if you can get a Macbook elsewhere for £50 cheaper, then that is the better deal.

As ever with these Amex offers, the value comes from spend you were already going to make, not spend you invent to chase the bonus.
