Two transfer bonuses: 40% Amex to Hilton, up to 35% into Avios via Qatar
We've got a couple of transfer bonuses to bring you today.
First, American Express are running a 40% transfer bonus into Hilton Honors points which takes it to levels you should actually be interested in.
Second, you can get up to a 35% bonus into Avios via Qatar Airways Privilege Club. Just to be clear and break it up from the Hilton offer, this is not from American Express to Qatar Airways (sorry, the headline can only be so long). Instead it is from ALL Accor, Shangri-La Circle, IHG One Rewards, Hyatt, and most interestingly to Brits, Capital on Tap. Haven't heard of Capital on Tap? We'll explain that for you, and an easy little "hack" you should be doing already, regardless of this offer.
40% bonus from Amex Membership Rewards to Hilton Honors
When does the Amex Hilton Honors transfer bonus run?
This Amex transfer bonus started on 29th September 2026 and ends on 24th November 2026. You do not need to register or opt in. You simply make an eligible transfer while the offer is live and the bonus follows.

How many Hilton points will I get?
Normally, 1 Membership Rewards point converts into 2 Hilton Honors points. During the promotion, the same point converts into 2.8 Hilton Honors points. The extra 0.8 is your 40% bonus.
Here is how that looks at a few different transfer sizes:
Membership Rewards points transferred | Standard Hilton points | Bonus Hilton points | Total Hilton points |
1,000 | 2,000 | 800 | 2,800 |
10,000 | 20,000 | 8,000 | 28,000 |
50,000 | 100,000 | 40,000 | 140,000 |
100,000 | 200,000 | 80,000 | 280,000 |
Are there minimum and maximum transfer limits?
Yes. You must transfer at least 200 Membership Rewards points, and no more than 499,950 in a single transfer. Transfers go through in increments of 50 points, so a figure like 1,025 will not work.
How long will the points take to arrive?
This is the part to read carefully, because the points do not land in one go.
Your standard Hilton Honors points should arrive within 5 business days. The 40% bonus is credited separately and can take up to 20 business days to show up in your Hilton account. That means you could see your base points first and then wait a good while for the rest.
If you need points for a booking this week, a transfer made now will not help you. Plan ahead and leave yourself plenty of breathing space, particularly as the deadline gets closer.
Do I need a Hilton Honors account first?
You do. If you do not have one yet, you will need to open one. You also have to link your Membership Rewards account to your Hilton Honors account before you can transfer anything, and that is done through the Membership Rewards website. It is worth getting that sorted before you decide how many points to move.

Can I move my points back if I change my mind?
No. Once Membership Rewards points have been transferred to Hilton, they cannot be sent back. From that moment they belong to the Hilton Honors programme and follow its rules, not Amex's.
Which Hilton hotels can I use the points at?
Hilton Honors covers more than 6,200 hotels and resorts around the world.
That spans:
Waldorf Astoria
Conrad
Canopy
Hilton Hotels & Resorts
Curio
DoubleTree
Tapestry Collection
Embassy Suites
Hilton Garden Inn
Hampton
Tru
Homewood Suites
Home2 Suites
Hilton Grand Vacations.
Should I transfer my Membership Rewards points to Hilton?
My advice is to work backwards. Find the stay you actually want, check what it costs in Hilton points, and then work out how many Membership Rewards points you would need to move across. If the numbers make sense, the bonus is a lovely extra.
What I would avoid is transferring a pile of points on the vague hope of using them later. With no way back, that is a decision to make with a booking in mind.
Up to 35% bonus into Avios via Qatar Airways
What is the offer?
Qatar Airways Privilege Club is offering bonus Avios when you convert points into it from a list of partner programmes. Most of the list is Gulf banks you'll never come across, but there are five open to those of us in the UK: ALL Accor, IHG One Rewards, World of Hyatt, Shangri-La Circle and Capital on Tap. The last of which being the most interesting.
To repeat the point from the top, Amex is not on the list.
Qatar uses Avios, so anything you collect there can be moved across to your British Airways Club account afterwards via the Avios website transfer section.

When does the Qatar bonus run?
From 1st October to 31st October 2026. Qatar runs the offer clock on Doha time (understandably), so the offer actually closes at 8:59pm UK time on Saturday 31st October. There's nothing to register for.
How big is the bonus?
It depends on how many Avios a single conversion produces.
Avios from one conversion | Bonus | Example |
Up to 49,999 | 15% | 20,000 becomes 23,000 |
50,000 to 99,999 | 25% | 60,000 becomes 75,000 |
100,000 or more | 35% | 100,000 becomes 135,000 |
The bonus thresholds count the Avios you receive, not the partner points you send.
Each conversion is also judged on its own, meaning that three conversions of 40,000 Avios get 15% each, not 35% on the 120,000 total, so if you're converting, please do it in one go.
And here are the transfer rates from the five selected programmes:
Programme | 10,000 points becomes | Rate (programme to Avios) |
Capital on Tap Pro | 10,000 Avios | 1:1 |
Capital on Tap (free card) | 8,000 Avios | 1:0.8 |
Shangri-La Circle | 10,000 Avios | 1:1 |
ALL Accor | 7,500 Avios | 1:0.75 |
World of Hyatt | 4,000 Avios | 1:0.4 |
IHG One Rewards | 2,000 Avios | 1:0.2 |
When will the bonus Avios arrive?
Your standard Avios arrive on the partner's usual timescale. Qatar says the bonus Avios will be in your account by 30th November 2026.
What is Capital on Tap?
Capital on Tap is a business credit card for UK limited companies. It is the only way to earn Avios on your business spending without an Amex card, and Capital on Tap is also a Visa, making it much easier to use. The other three Avios business cards in the UK are all Amex: Business Gold, Business Platinum and the BA Amex Accelerating Business card.

And there are no foreign transaction fees, which Amex can't say.
There are two cards:
Card | Annual fee | Earning | Sign-up bonus |
Capital on Tap | Free | 0.8 Avios per £1 | None |
Capital on Tap Pro | £299 | 1 Avios per £1 | 10,000 Avios when you spend £5,000 in three months |
Pro also comes with airport lounge access and some other benefits.
Here is an example of how many Avios you would get, and remember, the bonus is calculated on how many Avios you eventually receive, not how many points you send in the first place:
Card | Points converted | Standard Avios | Bonus | Total Avios |
Capital on Tap | 60,000 | 48,000 | 15% | 55,200 |
Capital on Tap Pro | 60,000 | 60,000 | 25% | 75,000 |
This transfer bonus is a bit of a no-brainer if you wanted Avios from these cards!
To apply for Capital on Tap, you need to be a director, or own at least 25%, of a UK limited company, LLP or PLC. If you're a sole trader, I'm afraid you can't get one. There is no minimum turnover requirement for the free card, making it great for new businesses.
Amex also closed their Business Gold and Business Platinum cards to new sole trader applications in January. If you're self-employed and want Avios on your business spending, the BA Amex Accelerating Business card is now your only option. You can read about the changes to the Amex business cards here.
If any of this sounds appealing to you, you can use our Capital on Tap referral link here and you'll get 7,500 points for being referred by Points Well Made on both the free or Pro version.
We'll make sure to do a review of Capital on Tap in the near future.
Should I convert ALL Accor points to Avios?
If you want Avios from Accor, Iberia is the better option. Accor converts 3,000 ALL points into 3,000 Iberia Avios, which is one for one. Qatar only gives you 1,500 Avios for every 2,000 ALL points, before the bonus.
Here's how they compare:
ALL points converted | Iberia Avios | Qatar Avios (with bonus) |
30,000 | 30,000 | 25,875 |
90,000 | 90,000 | 84,375 |
150,000 | 150,000 | 151,875 |
Qatar only wins at the very top, and even then it's by less than 2,000 Avios.
Avios in Iberia can be moved to British Airways Club just like Qatar's, via the Avios website.
The Accor hack you should already be doing
If you link your ALL Accor and Qatar Privilege Club accounts, you earn 1 Avios for every €1 you spend at any Accor hotel (a list which includes brands such as Ibis), before taxes. That's on top of your normal ALL points, not instead of them.
Link once, and every Accor stay from then on pays you twice.
