I recently stayed two nights at the Maldron Hotel Cathedral Quarter in Manchester, and I was genuinely impressed by what you get for the money, easily justifying writing a review. At just £60 per night, you're lucky if you could find a Travelodge for that money. But for my money I was able to get a deluxe double, which included room service, a full service bar, and a gym!
