Is This My New Favourite Lounge at Heathrow? - Cathay Pacific Business Class Lounge, Heathrow Terminal 3 Review

As you know, I was on a journey of six flights in 72 hours to prove how easy it is to use the points you've been saving up so diligently. This was before the first flight on the trip, aboard British Airways Club Europe to Budapest. For those who don't know, Club Europe is the name British Airways gives its short haul business class. Despite Terminal 5 being "the home of British Airways", they operate a surprising amount of flights from Terminal 3, flying to 28 destinations.

Did you know that a British Airways Club Europe ticket not only entitles you to access the British Airways Galleries lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3, but also:

  • American Airlines Admirals Club

  • Qantas Business Class lounge

  • Cathay Pacific Business Class lounge

I knew beforehand that there was a noodle bar in this lounge, so that’s all I needed to hear before making a beeline.

Where is the lounge?

To access the Cathay Pacific Business Class lounge at Heathrow, take a right along the hallway of lounges, and down to the end by Gate 9. In Terminal 3, all the lounges have a letter coded to them. A is the American Express Centurion Lounge, which is on its own by Wetherspoons. The rest B-H are all along the same corridor.

You will find a clearly signposted dark brown surround with two lifts inside, these lifts will take you up to reception.

So, how is the lounge?

At reception I was warmly greeted, and directed to the Business Class section of the lounge. The First Class lounge is accessed the same way, but that lounge branches off.

As you walk up the corridor you will find lavatories to your left, and the showers straight in front of you.

Turning into the lounge you are hit with an instant wow factor. The design of this lounge has a modern, yet timeless elegance. Jade green tilling, teak booths, huge windows, plush seating, this is a space you will be glad to spend some time in. I found some seating by the window and settled in for the views of the runway with a “Cathay Delight”, their signature drink, consisting of coconut milk, kiwi, and mint.

Of course, I had to sample the noddle bar. There is a small menu which is all made fresh to order. I chose the wonton noodles, and you know I loaded up with some crispy chill oil.

Mmmmm, noodles

Now this is great lounge food. Noodles may be synonymous with cheap, quick food here in the UK, but the inclusion of this noodle bar elevates the interpretation of them, to a level that a Hongkonger would hold this food.

In the rest of the lounge you will find a buffet with Chinese and western options.

Carrying on down the lounge you will find the bar, along with more seating, including some private booths. This whole lounge oozes class, I wish I had more time to spend in here. Lastly right at the back of the lounge you will find some workstations, with one iMac, and two Windows PC's.

The toilets are finished to the same quality as the rest of the lounge. They could have been cleaner during my stay, but this was a particularly busy time in the lounge.

I really enjoyed doing this review of the Cathay Pacific Business Class lounge, and it may now be my new favourite at Heathrow, supplanting my old favourite of the Qatar Airways lounge in Terminal 4, but it’s a close call. The ambiance of the Qatar lounge is more First than Business, with hoards of staff catering for your every need. Whereas the Cathay lounge offers a refined excellence. Let me know what you think, which is your favourite?
