Great Amex offer: spend £700 at (not on) United Airlines, get £300 back

American Express is giving £300 back when you spend £700 or more online at United Airlines, not on United Airlines (more on that below), on bookings made by 23 October 2026, for a ticket departing from a UK airport. This is an exceptionally strong offer, effectively giving you at most 43% off your ticket!
I know what some of you are saying, and yes, we have seen this offer before at £350 back on a £700 spend, but I wouldn't be turning this current offer down.
If you have not used an Amex offer before, they sit in the Offers section of the Amex app. You save one to a card, spend at that retailer/hotel/airline on that card, and Amex refunds part of it as a statement credit.
British Airways American Express cards won't be receiving this offer (you should be able to see why), but other cards may, so check your Offers to be sure.

The rules
Book online at united.com/en/gb.
Pay in pounds, on the card the offer is saved to (you cannot mix payment with one of the United Airlines debit cards).
The flight has to depart from a UK airport.
Excluded: gift cards and vouchers, package holidays, cruises, buying United miles, and clothing and lifestyle purchases from the United Shop.
If you cancel and get a refund, the £300 credit will be pulled retrospectively.
One credit per card. If the offer has landed on more than one of your Amex cards, each of them needs its own £700.
Book by 23 October. This does not mean you need to have travelled by this date.
Spend is also cumulative, meaning that tickets on one booking counts, and so does topping up a fare that lands short by adding a seat or a bag during the booking process.
The offer works hardest on a fare just over £700
Take this example, Heathrow to Newark, out 6 September and back on the 9th is £704.39, meaning that when you factor in the the credit you'll get, it takes it down to £404.39, around a 40% saving!

If you have any westward travel coming up, then I would absolutely be looking to utilise this offer provided it is still the cheapest option. Compare prices on the United website to Skyscanner to make sure.
It says "at" United, not "on" United
The offer is spend at United Airlines. This allows your to book airlines such as Lufthansa, Aer Lingus, Air Canada etc as United's website processes the payment. The one bugbear is that the United website is extremely keen for you to route via America at some point on your journey.
Manchester to São Paulo is a one-stop through Munich or Frankfurt on Lufthansa. What United offers is Manchester to Munich to Newark to São Paulo, 24 hours 35 minutes.
Or via Dublin and Newark, 26 hours. Or via Toronto and Newark, 26 hours 10. Every version doubles back through a United hub before it heads south.

Again, do check against Skyscanner to compare your options.
Verdict
I know this isn't as good as the £350 back Amex offer we've seen in the past for United, but this is still an extremely strong offer.
Even though I don't have any travel planned heading west (that I haven't already booked), I have already saved this offer to my Amex Platinum just in case.
