Qatar Airways is giving away up to 24,000 bonus Avios on flights to/from Australia

If Australia has been sitting on your travel list, Qatar Airways has just given you up to 24,000 reasons to move it up.
If you book a flight between Doha and Australia during the promo window below, you'll get up to 24,000 bonus Avios on top of whatever you'd normally earn. It's a short booking window, so worth acting on quickly if the numbers work for you, but you have quite a while before you have to have completed your flight. So if this is the winter (or summer in Australia) that you are planning to go to a land down under, this deal might be for you.
What's on offer
The offer runs across flights marketed by Qatar Airways and operated by either Qatar Airways or Virgin Australia, connecting Doha with six Australian cities: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra.
Fly any of these routes in either direction and you'll earn bonus Avios on top of your standard haul, with the amount scaling by cabin.
Economy Classic and Economy Convenience: 3,000 bonus Avios per direction
Economy Comfort: 6,000 bonus Avios per direction
Business Class: 12,000 bonus Avios per direction
First Class: 12,000 bonus Avios per direction (same as Business under this campaign, despite the higher fare)
Fly out and back and those numbers double. A business return, for instance, nets you 24,000 bonus Avios on the promo alone, before you've even counted the Avios you'd normally earn for the fare and distance.
Key dates
Booking window: 17 to 29 July 2026 (Doha time)
Travel window: 17 July 2026 to 31 March 2027 (Doha time)
That travel window is actually pretty generous. Half the time with these deals you have to book with two days, have flown within two months if seems, and don't you dare think about travelling during a school holiday.
Book within the twelve-day window and you've got until the end of March next year to actually take the trip. Making this a good option to lock in future travel at today's bonus rate rather than something you need to fly imminently.
Naturally I think we'd all agree that, in an ideal world, we'd be flying this route on points. But, if you can't, you might as well earn some bonus Avios whilst you're at it!
How to qualify
Book directly through the Qatar Airways website. Third-party booking sites like booking.com won't count. You'll also need your Privilege Club membership number attached to the booking, either at the time of booking or at check-in. If you're not already a member, you can join for free and add your number before you fly. In fact, use this link here and you can earn up to 2,000 bonus Avios for signing up to the Qatar Airways Privilege Club.
Why is this a good idea?
As you will have seen recently Qatar Airways have made changes to their Privilege Club not once, but twice. One of the key changes being below:
Under the new rules, you'll only be able to book reward flights for people on two pre-approved lists: a "Friends & Family" list of up to six non-members, and a "My List" of up to four fellow Privilege Club members, capping you at booking for ten people plus yourself.
But then, there's this:
"A member will only be eligible to invite individuals to join their Family & Friends group after meeting the following criteria:
The member's Privilege Club account must have been active for a minimum 30 days
The main member must have completed at least one qualifying activity;
A flown flight accrual with Qatar Airways or any partner airline
At least one eligible co-branded credit card accrual transaction"
So to be able to create a Friends & Family list you must have credited some flying to your Qatar Airways Privilege Club account, which most of you will not have done as you're more than likely just crediting your flights to your BA Club account. Past Avios redemptions on Qatar won't count either. A redemption isn't an "accrual", as it earns no Avios or tier points.
Now, of course there are much cheaper ways of doing this. To a quick fly up and back to Edinburgh with BA and pop your Privilege Club frequent flyer number into the booking.
But, is that the best use of your time and cash. When, instead, you could theoretically tick the box of "a flown flight accrual with Qatar Airways" which you were going to do anyway. I'll leave that with you to ponder as only you know if this is right for you!
The most important terms and conditions
The full terms run long, but these are the ones that are worth paying attention to if you're planning to take advantage of this:
Only revenue tickets count. Cash, and Cash + Avios bookings qualify. Award tickets, including Flexi Award, are excluded entirely.
Bonus Avios apply per sector, not per itinerary. If you're flying a connecting route, only the Doha-Australia leg earns the bonus.
Tickets bought before 17 July don't qualify, even if you reissue them during the booking window.
You can use this offer more than once. There's no cap on how many eligible bookings you make during the window.
It can't be combined with other bonus Avios offers, coupons or vouchers.
Avios land in your account 7 to 14 days after you've flown, and once credited, the transaction can't be reversed.
Qatar Airways can withhold or claw back Avios if it reasonably believes the campaign has been misused.
Is it worth it?
For anyone already planning an Australia trip, this is straightforward value with no real catch. The 3,000 to 12,000 bonus Avios per direction stacks up fast on a return trip, and the wide travel window means you're not being rushed into flying before you're ready.
The main thing to watch is book via the Qatar Airways website and making sure your Privilege Club number is attached before check-in. Miss that step and the bonus won't land, no matter how good your fare was.
