Staybridge Suites London Heathrow Review - September 2026

My list of airport hotel needs is short. A room that is comfy, clean and pleasant to look at. I don't quite understand people who say things like "oh it doesn't need to be pretty or that comfy, you're only sleeping in it." I need it to be comfy, because otherwise I won't sleep, and everyone wants an aesthetically pleasing room, it just makes the stay feel so much grander and exciting.

But, my most important factor for an airport hotel, is that wherever possible, a runway view must be incorporated by the window. I love planes. I love looking at planes. I love trying to guess the plane (aka which specific Boeing or Airbus it is, not which airline it is because I have that down) and sometimes getting it right and sometimes getting it so wrong I realise I really do need to go and see the opticians asap to get new glasses!

The good news is that the Staybridge Suites London Heathrow ticked every one of those boxes, and I spent most of our stay glued to the window watching planes. I even got to watch my friend Vicky leave on the BA A380 to Johannesburg for her safari, which felt weirdly special!

So let's jump into the review of the Staybridge Suites Heathrow Airport.

Where is Staybridge Suites Heathrow located?

Staybridge Suites London Heathrow sits on the Bath Road at Heathrow Airport, only 15 minutes from the terminals. It's an Aparthotel, so every room comes with a fully equipped kitchen, free Wi-Fi and complimentary breakfast, aimed as much at longer stays as the classic one-nighter but it also works for that "night-before-your-flight" moment too.

The hotel is well set up for business travellers as well as leisure ones. The Den offers a smart meeting space for up to 10, complete with screen and projector. Getting to and from the terminals is handled by the Heathrow Hoppa, a frequent shuttle that picks up right outside the hotel, 24 hours a day, but you could also get a taxi too.

Staybridge Suites is part of the IHG family, so you have options here. You can pay in cash, points, or split the cost between the two. Handy if you're sitting on a stash of IHG points and want to put them to use before a flight rather than after one.

What are the rooms like at Staybridge Suites Heathrow?

There's a decent spread of room types on offer: Studio Suites, 1 King Bed Studio Suites, 1 King Bed 1 Bedroom Suites, and 1 King Bed 1 Bedroom Suites with a sofa bed. Accessible rooms are available too, designed with turning space around the bed and wheel-in shower facilities in the bathroom. Some of these interconnect with standard rooms, and the lobby and reception are accessible via the lifts.

We stayed in a 1 King Bed Studio Suite.

Staybridge Suites are built for longer stays, with every room having its own kitchenette, complete with a hob, microwave, and enough pots, pans and utensils to actually cook a proper meal rather than just reheat a takeaway.

Was the room comfortable?

The room felt light and spacious, even though there was only one window, about a metre wide, despite a full wall of exterior space. What light did come through was good, and the view outside was exactly what I look for at any airport hotel: aircraft, right there. Full view of Terminal 5 and her satellite terminals.

The sofa and TV setup gave the space more of a studio flat feel than a standard hotel bedroom, and we absolutely moved the furniture around so that we could watch the planes from the window! The bed itself was comfy and generously sized, with a mattress and pillows that struck a good firmness balance.

Storage wasn't an afterthought either which is always nice to see. There was a cupboard housing an ironing board and iron, a wardrobe with a safe built in and laundry basket, and bedside tables with a proper amount of drawer space, three good sized drawers on one side, the usual smaller arrangement on the other. This is absolutely a room built for having "stuff" with you.

The shower room was properly spacious, more than you'd expect for an airport stopover. The shower didn't quite pass the "Sam Height Test" (6ft2 for reference), and the water pressure wasn't quite as good as I like it which is more "blast it like Niagra after heavy rain" but you could easily wash your hair in it ... which is my go to water pressure test. Scientifically approved and independently verified.

The kitchenette was very well appointed. As mentioned there was a two pan hob and a microwave. The utensils were extensive, and there were multiple pan choices for whatever you were cooking along with baking trays and a pizza tray. Bowls, plates, cutlery and glasses completed the set up. There was tea and coffee in the room also, but if that wasn't to your taste there was a 24 hour coffee machine downstairs (free) which did all the usual suspects and they had oat, almond and soya milk in the fridge, along with cow juice for those who can tolerate it (alas, not myself).

We can attest to the kitchen being very good, as we whipped up a carbonara in the room ... which was a really poor choice because everywhere then smelt of garlic ... I must apologise to the room servicing team. We did, however, remember to put the dishwasher on before we left, because yes, there is a little dishwasher in the kitchen too.

What is breakfast like at Staybridge Suites Heathrow?

Breakfast is served daily in the lobby lounge. There are hot options, cold options, healthier options and less healthy options. Given the price point, it's a perfectly acceptable offering, although I'd love to see more dairy free alternatives, but they did have allergy information next to everything so big tick there.

What facilities does Staybridge Suites Heathrow have?

The Fitness Centre and guest laundry are both aimed squarely at longer-stay guests, though there's no reason a one-night visitor can't make use of them too. The laundry room is a good size, and it's free, open 24 hours if you need to sort washing before a flight.

Sam tried out the gym and rated it above average for a hotel gym. It's stocked with a solid mix of aerobic and free weight equipment, and it's open nearly around the clock, from midnight to 11:45pm. It's shared with the Holiday Inn next door, so the size and space of it is good.

Three times a week there's an evening social, with appetisers and drinks included as part of your stay.

If you'd rather not cook in your suite, a full Italian restaurant sits right next door in the Holiday Inn which do surprisingly good pizzas. The dough was fantastic, and better than a lot of chain restaurants.

There is also a sports bar you can utilise or a drink or food if Italian isn't your thing.

Room service also deserves a mention. The in-room food selection was impressively large, even though we didn't end up using it ourselves.

Travelling with a dog? They're welcome here too, at a cost of £30 a night.

Is Staybridge Suites Heathrow worth it?

It doesn't matter whether you're booking a single night before an early flight or settling in for a longer stay. Staybridge Suites London Heathrow Bath Road delivers on comfort, storage, kitchen facilities and that all-important runway view, and it does so with an eye on making longer stays feel like home rather than just a transit stop.

If you're weighing up where to stay before or after a Heathrow flight, this is a hotel that earns its place on the shortlist for me.
