You will be forgiven if you haven't heard of Yonder. So, allow me to introduce them.
Yonder launched in 2022 as a debit and credit card provider, and has since quietly built a following of travellers drawn to real-world rewards, a well-designed product and a more flexible approach to earning points. They're rated Excellent on Trustpilot, and took Best Newcomer at the British Bank Awards in 2023.

I think we can all agree that the travel rewards industry has a habit of overcomplicating things. And if it isn't overcomplicating them, then it's just makes it impossible to actually utilise the benefits which they offer.
Yonder is very much trying to fix that. There are four products in the range: the Free Debit, the Full Debit, the Free Credit and the Full Credit, so there is an entry point for most people. This article focuses on the Full Credit Card, the flagship paid tier at £15 a month, which is what I've been putting through its paces for the last few months, and I am pleasantly surprised.

Who is Yonder for?
Yonder is built for anyone. But also, people who travel regularly and want rewards they can actually use without a learning curve. If you already enjoy tracking Avios transfer bonuses or hunting for premium cabin sweet spots, you may find more upside with a different card. If you don't, Yonder makes a strong case.
What kind of card is this?
This is an important area to clear up. Yonder works differently from most travel rewards cards on the UK market. Where most cards earn you points redeemable for airline miles, or earn the miles directly, Yonder does not.
Points earned here are redeemed directly through Yonder's platform, against flights, hotels, lounges and dining, rather than transferred to an airline programme. You can transfer these points to Cathay Pacific's Asia Miles but I will explain more about that later.
But, In practice, the points function more like a flexible travel credit than a traditional airline currency, which shapes everything else about the product.

Earning points
Full credit card members earn 5 points per £1 on all spending, with a welcome bonus of up to 10,000 points for hitting a spending target in the qualifying period.
You’ll earn welcome points based on how much you spend in your first 30 days:
• Spend a total of £200 → get 2,000 points
• Spend a total of £500 → get 5,000 points (an extra 3,000)
• Spend a total of £1,000 → get 10,000 points (an extra 5,000)
Now. Yonder also partners with various business of varying sizes. Some are small independents (we love this) and others are slightly bigger businesses. With these partners there are usually enhanced earning rates.
Brands mentioned in this article are illustrative and vary monthly and earn/redemption rates for points are illustrative and vary per brand.
Redemption at partner restaurants is one of the slickest features on the card. When the bill arrives, you pay as normal with your Yonder card. The app pops up and asks whether you'd like to use your points to offset the cost. Tap yes, the points come off.
Redeeming your points on flights and hotels
I personally find this quite an interesting proposition. Yes, being able to earn Avios, Virgin Points or other airline miles for a reward flight is fantastic. But there is something very freeing about being able to use your Yonder points on any airline. EasyJet. Ryanair. Jet2. Emirates. Singapore. These are points which can truly open up any airline for you. Goodbye airline loyalty. Hello the world.
Behind the scenes, your points are converted into a monetary value credited against the cash fare you have already paid. It is not the same mechanics as redeeming Avios for a business class seat at a fixed points price, and it will not deliver the occasional bursts of outsized value that make airline loyalty programmes compelling to enthusiasts. What it does deliver is flexibility, you book the flight you want and take the edge off the cost.
So, essentially you can book any flight with your Yonder card, wait for the transaction to appear in the app, and redeem up to £200 worth of points against it.
Current redemption values look like this:
31,250 Points = £50 off
62,500 Points = £100 off
125,000 Points = £200 off (this is the current maximum amount)
There are some caveats to redeeming your points .
You must buy the flights on your Yonder card.
You will not be able to use your points if you book your flights through a travel agent or third-party.
Finding a flight through an aggregator such as Skyscanner is fine, but make sure when you buy your tickets, you are purchasing them directly from the airlines to qualify for points redemptions.
Let's quickly talk about Cathay Pacific. Currently, they are the only transfer partner, as I said earlier.
This works similarly to transferring your Amex Membership Rewards points. The current rate is 5 Yonder Points to 1 Asia Mile, and the app states "Your Asia Miles account will be updated within 30 days of your request".
Now, when it comes to hotels the same mechanism apply as using your points for flights (other than Cathay), with over 1.2 million properties worldwide.
To earn, and redeem points, you simply book via the app as bookings made direct with the hotel don't count.
Current redemption values look like this:
25,000 Points = £75 off
50,000 Points = £150 off
100,000 Points = £300 off(this is the current maximum amount)
Airport lounges
Lounge access is available through Yonder's partnerships with No1 Lounges and Lounge Pass. This can be redeemed with your points on your card or you pay. There are some caveats.
Lounge Pass must be booked via the in-app Yonder link at least 24 hours prior to visit time in order to redeem your points. Walks in are not accepted.
No.1 Lounges must be pre-booked via the in-app Yonder link at least 5 hours before visit time. Walks in are not accepted.
It is more limited than the unlimited access offered by cards like the Amex Platinum, but it works well for travellers who visit lounges occasionally rather than on every trip.
No foreign exchange fees
This for me was one of the standout features for this card. Yonder charges no foreign exchange fees and passes the Mastercard exchange rate directly to cardholders with no markup.
I used the card across my trips to South Africa and Botswana and saved roughly £50 in FX charges compared to what a standard UK credit card would have cost. For regular international travellers, this is the most immediately tangible benefit on the card.
Worldwide family travel insurance
The Full membership includes worldwide family travel insurance, covering you, your partner and dependent children. Yonder quotes an independent value of £275 per year for the policy.
One condition applies: part of your trip must be booked using the card to activate cover, which is standard in the premium card market, but worth knowing before you travel. Cover subject to eligibility and exclusions.
eSIM
Full members receive a complimentary 1GB eSIM, activated directly from the app before departure. I used it in South Africa, mostly for the drives between airports, and it was really easy to set up and use.
Whilst some might say it is a minor feature rather than a headline one, I feel it is a useful addition which we are seeing more of across the board.
Yonder also offer additional data plans from 1GB to 20GB which are available across over 120 countries, and can be bought within the app.
The app
Let's talk about the app as it's own feature, because it's really rather good.
Finance apps are often boring, and don't get me started on airline ones, which are just appalling. Yonder's app straddles an impressive line. Not only is it easy to navigate and use, it's also very attractive.
Every aspect of the app is very clear. From the settings, being able to find your information, through to the rewards and travel parts of it. At no point through this process did I find myself stuck or wondering "I literally have no idea how this works / where this is in the app".
Then there is the imagery, the design of the app. The colours, the fonts, the layout even the functionality itself, are just slick. There is something exceptionally pleasing about using an app that not only is fully functioning, but also is very pleasing to the eye. The guys at Yonder have built an app having understood who there audience is, and it's quite the breath of fresh air.

Is it worth it?
As with any card, the question is whether you will use enough of the package to justify the fee.
On the one hand, there are benefits that cannot be ignored. No-FX-fee spending. A generous range of hotels you can earn-and-burn on. The ability to use your points on any airline.
Yonder's Full Credit Card does exactly what it says. The rewards system will not produce the spectacular redemptions that make airline loyalty schemes so addictive to some, but that is a design decision, not a flaw.
For travellers who want something genuinely useful without the complexity, it is one of the strongest options available in the UK right now.
