We’ve already walked through the recent shake-ups in the British Airways Club (read here), and how to earn those elusive Tier Points (read here). But there’s one very big, very important question left hanging in the departure lounge…

What do I get for each British Airways Club Tier?

Let’s dig into the perks, shall we?

Four British Airways Club cards side by side: blue, bronze, silver, and gold. Each card displays "John Smith" and a number.

Sapphire: The Starting Line

Welcome to the Club! You’ve made it to the Sapphire tier, where the real journey begins.

Perks at this level are basically the “everyone gets it” list -  but hey, even a little recognition feels good, right? Enjoy that warm, fuzzy feeling of being part of the Club.

Whether you’re brand new to the Club or have your sights set on Gold glory, every member enjoys a base package of benefits. Think of it as your in-flight snack — not a full meal, but something to tide you over:

  • Earn Avios and share them with family via a household account

  • Member-only offers and discounts

  • Access to “Inside the Club” content

  • Buy, gift, transfer, or combine Avios (Gold’s transfer for free, other tiers pay £50)

  • Use Avios for Reward Flights

  • Handy Avios mobile app

  • Priority waitlist access

  • Stored seating and meal preferences

  • Free Wi-Fi messaging onboard

Not bad just for showing up. But things get much more interesting as you climb the tier ladder.

Bronze: A Taste of VIP Life

Things start picking up at Bronze. Think of this as your fast-track pass to flying smarter, with just enough polish to feel special:

  • Free seat selection 7 days before departure (except on group rates or long-haul exit rows)

  • Priority check-in (except London City Airport)

  • Priority boarding (yep, still not at London City)

  • Status freeze for maternity, paternity, or adoption

  • 5% off nearly everything at The Wine Flyer

Not bad for your first real upgrade — smoother airport experiences and a little sip of savings on the side.

Silver: Now You’re Flying Fancy

Welcome to the good life. Silver status brings serious perks, especially when traveling with others:

  • Free seat selection from the moment you book (excludes exit rows on long-haul)

  • Priority check-in and boarding (again, London City Airport sits this one out)

  • Status freeze for family leave

  • Two checked bags in economy for everyone on your booking (not available on hand-baggage-only fares or group bookings)

  • A generous increase to baggage weight allowance from 23kg to 32kg per bag, in any class

  • Business Class lounge access with British Airways and other oneworld airlines for you and a plus one

  • Reservation Assurance. (What is this exactly? Well, with reservation assurance British Airways will provide you with an economy seat on your chosen British Airways flight, even if the flight is full, for some extra reassurance at those important times. A couple of caveats though, to benefit you must have booked a full fare, flexible economy ticket more than 24 hours before the flight. And must have checked in at least one hour before departure)

  • Direct customer service line

  • 10% off almost all Wine Flyer purchases

Blue sign with gold text reads "Galleries I Club" featuring a stylized arrow design. Background is blurred, creating a formal, professional mood.

Flying becomes less about the hassle and more about the perks. This is where BA loyalty really starts to pay off.

Gold: The Crown Jewel

You’ve reached Gold — and now we’re talking serious sky-high treatment.

Here’s what you unlock:

  • Free seat selection at booking for everyone in your party, even those on other bookings (as long as it’s the same class/flight)

  • Exclusive access to seat 1A or 1K when flying First (for Gold only)

  • Priority check-in and boarding

  • One extra checked bag for everyone on your booking (except hand-baggage-only fares)

  • An increased baggage allowance from 23kg to 32kg per bag in any class, for everyone on the booking

  • First Class Lounge access when travelling oneworld

  • Reservation Assurance

  • Priority customer support line

  • 15% off nearly everything at The Wine Flyer

  • Access to First Class check-in desks, even when you’re not flying First

  • No booking or service fees on priority reward bookings

  • Gold Priority Reward: If there's no availability in your chosen cabin or on the flight, with the Gold Priority Reward you have the option of using double the regular Avios to secure a seat of your choice on the flight, providing you book 30 days or more in advance.

  • Extra Reward Flight availability in economy

  • Gold Upgrade for Two at 35,000 Tier Points in a year

  • Two more Upgrade for One vouchers at 50,000 Tier Points in a year

  • One Gold Partner card + two Silver cards at 65,000 Tier Points in a year

  • Concorde Room access at 65,000 Tier Points in a year

Spacious lounge with wooden flooring, large windows, and tall plants. A long table is set with bottles, glasses, and decorations. Bright and airy atmosphere.

And for the die-hard travellers, Lifetime Gold awaits at a modest 550,000 Tier Points. This is accumulated across your flying career though and doesn’t have to be achieved in a year!

A Gold Star for Baby (Literally)

One thing BA deserves applause for is how they handle life’s biggest milestones. No matter your tier, if you’re on maternity, paternity, or adoption leave, you can apply to freeze your tier status. That means no losing your hard-earned level while you’re busy with midnight feeds or first steps.

Oh, and here’s a sweet touch: enrol your new bundle of joy in your household account, and BA will drop 1,000 Avios into their baby-sized account. Plus, infants fly free until they’re two. Bonus. Just email your documents to baby@ba.com, and once they’re verified, you’re set.

Final Boarding Call

Whether you’re just starting your British Airways Club journey or eyeing that elusive Gold Tier, the tier perks are designed to make flying more rewarding — in every sense.

So collect those Tier Points, plan smart, and enjoy the ride. Your next upgrade might just be around the corner.
