You Can Now Use Emirates Skywards Miles to Book Jet2 Flights - But Should You?

Emirates Skywards announced today that members can now redeem Skywards Miles for Jet2 flights. On paper, this sounds like a useful addition for UK-based Emirates flyers. Redemptions start from 8,000 Skywards Miles including taxes and fees, and you can use miles for flights, meals, baggage, and seat selection.

The partnership gives Emirates Skywards' four million UK members access to Jet2's 14 UK airport bases (including the newly launched London Gatwick base from March 2026) with flights to Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Canaries. Sounding good?

Launch Promotion (sort of): 25% Off For One Week

To mark the launch, Emirates is offering 25% off all Jet2 redemptions from 5th to 12th February 2026. So that "from 8,000 miles" starting price becomes 6,000 miles during the promotion week. The discount applies automatically during the booking process and covers both flights and add-ons like baggage and seat selection.

I just would have coincided this promo with the actual launch week, and not in two weeks time... but hey ho!

The Pricing is a Bit Messy

The press release helpfully suggests you could fly Emirates London-Sydney-London on a Premium Economy Flex Plus ticket, earn 18,000 miles, then redeem those for a return to Majorca. So far, so good.

Except when you actually look at the pricing, it's all over the place. I pulled up a random date - 6th May - for London to Palma de Mallorca one-way, and found three different Jet2 flights with wildly different miles pricing:

That's the same destination, same day, with the most expensive option costing more than double the cheapest. All three are direct flights with near-identical flying times. The only variable is which London airport you're leaving from.

This pricing is replicated for return journeys too. When I add a return fare onto the above, the pricing starts 15,941 Skywards Miles, going all the way up to 29,031 Skywards Miles.

Unfortunately, according to the Emirates website "the number of Miles required for flight rewards will vary based on ticket fares". Its a shame that the pricing is directly mirroring cash fares rather than offering any sort of sensible distance-based or flat-rate structure.

And if you're there thinking, "Ah, I can just transfer my American Express Membership Rewards points to Emirates and pay for these flights", do remember that Emirates is set to devalue the transfer rate from Amex.

Should You Care About This Emirates/Jet2 Partnership?

I'm probably like the rest of you. We've likely flown Emirates because they're often the most convenient option, not because I particularly care about flying them (the veneer effect onboard gives me a headache). This means that a lot of us have very small balances of Emirates Skywards Miles sitting there doing nothing. In this case, having an option to spend your small balance of miles is definitely a good thing.

But, before you get excited about "only 8,000 miles," you need to do your homework. You're going to need to check multiple airports, multiple dates, and compare what you'd actually pay in cash versus the mile cost, and work out whether you're getting decent value.
