Greetings from Slovenia,
If you missed this part in last Sunday's email, we've given ourselves the week off (shock!). So instead of posting new stories, we've put together some of our more useful/interesting/entertaining posts for your pleasure.
Normal service will resume next week.
Thank you for bearing with us whilst we allow ourselves to recharge. It has been needed.
Sam
If you're a regular traveller or have been reading our website (points go to you), you've likely heard of Avios, the rewards currency that can help you save on flights, upgrades, hotels and more and that we like to bang on about here at Points Well Made. If you haven't read our detailed articles about What are Avios, and How to Earn Avios Online, go check those posts out too!
Right, back to this article! Did you know that there are many lesser-known ways to collect Avios without even boarding a plane? At Avios.com, the possibilities go well beyond travel!

From everyday spending to clever comparisons, here are 10 surprisingly easy and often overlooked ways to earn Avios and get closer to your next reward.
What could possibly be better than an upgrade or flying with a companion? How about being treated with a voucher to do exactly that? Virgin Atlantic Reward Vouchers are a prized benefit that many frequent flyers seek, allowing you to enjoy upgrades or bring a companion along on your journey, often at a significant points saving.

This guide breaks down everything you need to know about Virgin Atlantic Reward Vouchers, including how they work, how to earn them, how to redeem them, and tips for maximising their value.
Balance Boost lets you multiply recently earned Avios from your British Airways Club account for as little as 0.92p per point—up to 62% cheaper than buying Avios outright.
If you're short on Avios for a redemption, need points quickly, or can't earn enough through flying and credit card spend alone, boosting Avios can bridge the gap faster and cheaper than most alternatives.
But Balance Boost isn't right for everyone. Used strategically, it's one of the best ways to top up your account. Used carelessly, you're just converting cash into points you might not actually need.

Because apparently I haven’t already travelled enough this year, I decided to treat myself to a solo trip to the Big Apple - New York City!

My last visit was back in 2018 on a whirlwind 24-hour work trip, so this time, I’m doing things differently, and not rushing it with two and a half days to explore and eat my way around Manhattan.
This journey begins with Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class on the Airbus A350-1000, flying from London Heathrow. Even better? It was a points redemption flight - booked using 35,000 points and £497.52 for a one-way ticket in Upper. A true treat.
If you want to collect as much Avios as possible, then a credit card is the must-have tool. Whether you're chasing that business class seat or just want to fly to Europe for next to nothing, having the right card for you can make a big difference to how quickly your Avios balance grows.

We've ranked the five best Avios-earning credit cards available in the UK right now, comparing them based on earning rates, standard welcome bonuses, annual perks, and overall value. Some are free, some cost a fair bit, and each has its place depending on your spending habits and travel goals.
Travel is amazing. Travel is supposed to be fun, dynamic, an adventure. It’s that blissful experience of willingly strapping yourself into a pressurised flying cylinder, hoping you won't get seated next to someone loudly eating a boiled egg or watching TikToks without headphones.

But for those of us with dietary requirements, in my case the joys of flying with lactose intolerance, it’s not just about surviving turbulence or children who use your seat as a kick drum. It’s a delicate dance of dodging dairy in a world that wants to slather everything in cheese.
