The debit cards we keep banging on about, the United, Hilton and Marriott Bonvoy ones, are all run by Currensea. These cards don't come with a new bank account. Instead they link to the current account you already have. So before you get excited about 40,000 Bonvoy points or a heap of United miles, you'll need to check that Currensea works with your bank.

The banks supported by Currensea
AIB
Bank of Ireland
Bank of Scotland
Barclays
Chase
Coutts
Danske
First Direct
Halifax
HSBC
Lloyds
Monzo
Nationwide
NatWest
Revolut
Royal Bank of Scotland
Santander
Starling
TSB
Ulster
Virgin Money
Wise
That covers pretty much every name you'd expect. All the big high street banks are there, and so are most of the app banks.
Even if your bank is listed here, what won't work is a "basic" bank account. That's a stripped-back account some banks offer to people who can't get a standard one, usually because of credit problems in the past. It has no overdraft and few extras. So if that's the sort of account you've got, the card won't link to it even if your bank is on the list.
If you've got a normal current account, which is almost certainly the case, this doesn't affect you. Sorry for wasting your time.
Who's missing?
The big two are Metro Bank and the Co-operative Bank.
And there's no clever way round it. So if you wanted to use one of the Currensea debit cards you'd have to open and actually use an account with one of the banks listed above, which rather defeats the point of not opening a new account in the first place.
Past those two, it's mostly the smaller and newer app banks that haven't made the cut yet.
Currensea does add banks over time, so something missing today could well be added tomorrow.
