For once, we've got a transfer bonus that isn't exclusive to the Americans. Revolut is running a 20% bonus on RevPoints converted to Avios from now until 30 August. If you've been stacking RevPoints and waiting for the right moment, this is it. And if you're not sure what RevPoints even are, we've published Part 1 of our Revolut guide covering exactly that, with how to earn them and how to spend them on travel coming in Parts 2 and 3.

We've also got a brilliant guest piece from Robbie, who used his Avios to fly Loganair from Heathrow to the Orkney Islands. Not your typical Avios redemption, but it could be one of the best Avios sweet spots out there. Helena has written up Part 1 of our New Zealand South Island campervan itinerary (mountains, glaciers, Middle-earth, the lot), Air France/KLM is devaluing Flying Blue in a way you might not expect from 8 September, and if you're renewing your broadband soon, don't do it without checking the Avios Shop/Virgin Shops Away first, because some providers are offering tens of thousands of points for a single switch.

Lastly, a personal apology from myself. We ran a story this week that turned out to be misleading. Accuracy is everything when it comes to doing what we do. I fell short of that mark, and no one is feeling that more than me. In my opinion, bad days in life are all about how you respond, and what you learn from them to prevent them happening again. Let's just say I have learnt a lot.

Long have we bemoaned the fact we rarely, if ever, get to see the bonus point conversions our American brothers and sisters enjoy. Every few months another US bank runs a juicy transfer bonus to Avios or another airline programme, and those of us on this side of the pond just watch on wistfully.

Well, for once, we've actually got something worth talking about. Revolut is running a promotion from 17 August through to 30 August 2026 where you'll get a 20% Avios bonus when converting your RevPoints over to Avios. You can read all about it here.

Avios redemptions tend to make people think of long-haul business class, or perhaps even first class to some far-flung destination. Mine took me from London to the Orkney Islands on a 30-year-old turboprop – and it turned out to be one of my best-value and most interesting, redemptions yet.

In March 2025, Scottish regional carrier Loganair adopted Avios as the currency of its loyalty programme. That opened up Loganair’s extensive network to Avios collectors. Points can be transferred across from programmes such as The British Airways Club, putting destinations across Scotland and beyond within reach. For someone like me who is always looking for a slightly more unusual trip, suddenly being able to use Avios to reach some of Britain’s more remote corners was immediately appealing.

Reminder: get up to 15,000 points just for switching your broadband

I'm currently going through one of life's many pleasures by talking (screaming internally) to Virgin Media attempting to renew our broadband for another year, pleading for a price that doesn't make me want to go through the switching to another provider because I'm already quite busy, something I'm sure you can relate to!

Considering how my live chat experience is going, I may soon be looking for a new broadband provider, which gives me an excuse to shop around on the Avios Shop, and Virgin Atlantic Shops Away.

For those who don't know, these are online shopping portals where in return for clicking a link to an online shop, say Asos, you are given points in return if you were to buy something, making this one of the smartest ways to quickly grow your points balances.

Broadband and insurance are some of the best sweet spots within these two shopping portals, sometimes offering tens of thousands of points for a single transaction. We're going to focus here on broadband, as a way to alleviate my increasing Virgin Media induced headache.

We need to have a talk about devaluations, because that's what Air France/KLM are doing with their Flying Blue programme. But the way they're devaluing their programme may not be the way you expect.

Revolut is an interesting loyalty propositions in the UK, not as traditional credit card, but as a debit-based account used by millions of people across the country.

RevPoints, Revolut's own loyalty programme, launched in 2024 and has since grown into a rewards currency many people are utilising, with airline transfer partners now numbering over thirty programmes globally and a fast-expanding set of redemption options.

This guide explains what Rev Points are, what Revolut is, and an explanation to the different levels of membership. There will be two further parts to this series. Part 2 will be all about how to earn the Rev Points, and Part 3 will cover how to spend them on travel.

Travelling New Zealand by campervan is one of, if not THE, best way to experience the country, and our South Island road trip was nothing short of epic.

Mountains, glaciers, lakes, Middle-earth locations and plenty of amazing food. Here’s how we did it, day by day, including routes, stops, activities and where we stayed.

It's important to give a teensy bit of context here. We initially flew into Auckland from Doha, and spent a day recovering and exploring the city before getting a super early flight down to Christchurch.
