Earn 50% Bonus Avios This Black Friday – Here's How to Maximise the Deal

From 10 November to 28 December 2025, British Airways Club members can earn a whopping 50% bonus on Avios earned through the Avios shopping portal. This seven-week promotion covers Black Friday, and the entire Christmas shopping period – making it one of the best opportunities of the year to turbocharge your points balance.
What's the bonus Avios offer?
From now until 28 December 2025, British Airways Club members will receive 50% bonus Avios on qualifying purchases made through the Avios shopping portal. Not sure what that is, here is our handy guide!

The Avios mobile app
The bonus is calculated on the base Avios you earn from each transaction, effectively giving you 1.5x the usual rate on every eligible purchase.
How does it work?
Let's break this down with a real example:
Say you're planning to buy a £500 laptop from John Lewis. Normally, John Lewis offers 1 Avios per £1 spent through the Avios portal.
With this bonus, that's an extra 250 Avios (roughly, VAT and shipping don't count) just for clicking through the portal. Do this across all your shopping, and those bonus Avios add up quickly.

Important note on John Lewis: The 50% bonus at John Lewis is only available for transactions registered between 24 November and 7 December 2025. Outside those dates, John Lewis purchases won't qualify for the bonus (though you'll still earn standard Avios).
There is a slight disparity between the app and the website, with the app showing the offer on each brand, but the website omits this. The T's&C's do state very clearly that purchases through both the app and website are eligible for the bonus Avios.
Top tips to maximise this offer
1. Stack with other promotions
Many retailers on the Avios portal run their own Black Friday deals. You can combine manufacturer discounts, retailer sales, AND earn bonus Avios – triple-dipping at its finest.
2. Use a rewards card
Don't forget to use a rewards card for your purchase.
Your total return could look like this:

3. Plan your big purchases now
Got any big-ticket items on your shopping list? Clothes, electronics, home goods (we need a tumble dryer)? Now's the time. The offer runs until 28 December, so you've got Black Friday, the Christmas run-up and Boxing Day all covered.
4. Check the portal rates first
Not all retailers offer the same Avios earn rate. Before you buy, check the portal to see which retailers are offering the best rates, don't just go for your usual.
5. Some quick T's&C's
Remember that shipping, handling, and VAT don't count towards Avios earned, and if you return an item or cancel your order, any bonus Avios will be removed.
Worth it?
Absolutely. If you're already planning to shop during the Black Friday sales, you'd be leaving free Avios on the table by not clicking through the portal first. Even if you're just doing your regular Christmas shopping, every purchase adds up.
