How To Earn Enough Points For a Trip to Barbados, Dubai, or New York - Without Using a Credit Card!

We received a message on TikTok from a follower who couldn't believe what we had previously posted:

"Hi! I just seen your video on Virgin Red / Tesco club card points and I’m amazed, thinking surely this is too good to be true?! So I went onto Tesco and you can buy vouchers which turn into Virgin points? So it’s saying if I buy £36 of vouchers I will get 7200 Virgin points (it lets you buy any amount) so would I get the 5000 bonus points on top of this? And also would that then give me a total of 12,200 points which equals the cost of a return flight to the likes of New York or Barbados?"

They were responding to our post on how cheap some redemptions can be on Virgin Atlantic thanks to the dynamic pricing model. They'd also seen how you can get 5,000 bonus Virgin Points just for setting your Tesco Clubcard points to auto-convert to Virgin Points!

But, how would you feel if I told you there was a way to fly to New York, Boston, Barbados etc using points, but starting from zero today? And without using a credit card to earn them?

First, you're going to want to set up a Virgin Red account. But more specifically, you're going to need a referral code, as this will get you 2,000 free Virgin Points just for signing up, thanks to a limited time bonus running until midnight tonight, 22nd August! You can get one of these referral codes from a friend, but if not, we have one (click here) that you can use. The bonus for a referral is normally only 1,000 Virgin Points. Don't fret though. I'll leave a way to tip you over the line at the bottom of the page.

Next, you're going to need a Tesco Clubcard account. Once you've done that, you're going to want to set up your Tesco Clubcard points to auto-convert to Virgin Points. Again, we've got a full how-to guide on this. You'll need a minimum of 250 Clubcard points in your account by 19th October. Don't have any at the moment? No problem. With your new Clubcard account, you'll get 1 point per £1 spent online, in store, or at Tesco Mobile, and 1 points per 2 litres of fuel at Tesco or Esso. Don't think you're going to get enough in the time needed? Why not give a copy of your Clubcard to some friends and family, and ask for their next shop or fill to give your card a scan.

Remember, the 5,000 points bonus is on top of the value you will get from transferring your Clubcard points!

Now, we've got two options for you here. The first option won't be for everyone, but if you are able to buy a Railcard, purchase through Virgin Trains Ticketing and you'll currently receive a bonus of 2,000 Virgin Points. Lastly, you're going to need some travel insurance for this trip, because don't be that person who has a few too many and needs to pay out of pocket for that hospital trip.
