Another Sunday, another round up of this week's news.

There is currently an offer with JP Morgan to get 10,000 Avios for investing £500, Uber have changed the number of Avios you can earn, and we're not fans of the changes. BA have also announced two new Avios-only flights for October half term to Tenerife and Reykjavík.

Virgin Red are offering a 70% bonus when you buy or gift Virgin Points, Amex have announced some of their Wimbledon perks for this year, and we've also combed through the BA sale for you.

Sam has also written up our three best mistakes we have made when it comes to earning points, so you can A) have a laugh, and B) so that you don't also make the same mistakes!

JP Morgan has an offer handing new customers 10,000 Avios for putting £500 into an investment account. That's double the 5,000 they usually offer for the same thing.

News you may have missed at Points Well Made - 7th June. Get 10,000 Avios for a £500 investment with JP Morgan - double the usual offer, ends 31 July

The one thing to know up front: your £500 goes into an investment account, like a Stocks and Shares ISA, and not a savings account. So it's worth reading the full article here before you start.

From 15 June, Uber are changing how many Avios you can collect on rides and takeaways in the UK and Ireland. Book ahead and you'll earn more. Grab a standard UberX across town and you'll earn nothing.

The earn has moved onto trips you plan in advance and runs to the airport. But that's not how most people use Uber. You use it for the casual ride. Home after a night out. The £12 hop you book because it's just started raining and you don't have an umbrella. Those trips are the bulk of what anyone spends with Uber, and from 15 June they earn nothing.

British Airways has announced its latest round of Avios-Only flights, this time pitting autumn sun against the Northern Lights. You can fly Heathrow to Tenerife, or Heathrow to Reykjavík, over October half-term.

If you haven't come across these before, Avios-Only flights are dedicated BA services where every seat, in every cabin, is bookable only as a Reward Seat using Avios.

Got a trip you're a few points short of? Virgin Atlantic, via Virgin Red, are running another buy points promotion with up to 70% bonus when you buy or gift Virgin Points.

It runs from 4 June to 7 July 2026. If you've got a redemption lined up and you're just shy of the points, this is worth a look.

Wimbledon is one of those things a British summer wouldn't be the same without. Two weeks of world-class tennis, far too much Pimm's, strawberries and cream, and an atmosphere you don't get anywhere else. This year it runs from Monday 29 June to Sunday 12 July.

If you've got an American Express Card in your wallet, there's a fair bit waiting for you on site at Wimbledon. I spent a day there last year going through it all, so here's what's on offer for 2026, and where the queues are worth it.

If you're fairly new to this, or you've got a stash of Avios you're a bit scared of spending wrong, here's some good news. We've made all the mistakes for you!

Most of what we know about Avios and points, we learned by getting it wrong first, and inevitably that cost us. You'll see online people claiming to have optimised every point, never wasted a voucher, and they read every word of the terms before applying. I've not always been that person, and if I'm being honest, I'd be a little suspicious of anyone who says they always have been.

British Airways launched its annual June sale yesterday, and it runs until 25 June 2026.

The sale covers both discounted flights and British Airways Holidays packages, ranging from two-night European city breaks through to week-long Caribbean and Indian Ocean escapes.
