Thinking about your next trip? If you need a little top up on the points you need then Virgin Atlantic, via Virgin Red, are offering up to 70% bonus points when you buy or gift Virgin Points.
This offer runs from 25th February to 31st March 2026, so you've got a decent window to decide if it's right for you.
Here's what you need to know.

So, what's the deal — how many bonus Virgin Points will I get?
Between 25th February and 31st March 2026, here's what you'll get:
Buy fewer than 5,000 points: No Bonus
Buy 5,000 – 24,000 points: 20% Bonus
Buy 25,000 – 69,000 points: 40% Bonus
Buy 70,000 – 124,000 points: 60% Bonus
Buy 125,000 – 300,000 points: 70% Bonus
This matches the structure we saw back in June 2025, September 2025, and in December 2025, so Virgin seem to have found a formula they like. The good news is the annual purchase limit has once again been bumped up to 300,000 points for the duration of the promotion (it normally sits at 200,000), so if you're planning something big, you've got room to top up significantly.

How much does it cost?
The pricing remains the same as before — transparent and straightforward. You can buy in increments of 1,000 Virgin Points at £15 per 1,000, plus a flat £15 transaction fee per purchase. So, if you spend:
£30 = 1,000 points (No Bonus)
£90 = 5,000 points + 1,000 bonus points (20%)
£375 = 25,000 points + 10,000 bonus points (40%)
£1,050 = 70,000 points + 42,000 bonus points (60%)
£1,500 = 100,000 points + 60,000 bonus points (60%)
£1,875 = 125,000 points + 87,500 bonus points (70%)
The price to buy points hasn't changed since we started writing for Points Well Made early last year, so that's reassuring.
How does this compare to previous offers?
As mentioned above, this is now the third time we've seen Virgin run this exact same 70% bonus structure. If anything, that consistency tells you this is becoming a fairly regular promotion, meaning that if you miss this promotion, it should come back round.
Is buying Virgin Points right for you?
Buying points works best when you're a specific amount short of a redemption you've already identified, say topping up a few thousand to unlock a Maldives flight or an Upper Class seat, for example, rather than stockpiling points speculatively. The value is in the redemption, not the points themselves.
Virgin's reward seat prices change prices frequently, so before you commit to buying an points, do check the most up to date price using the Virgin Atlantic Reward Seat Checker.
Buying points just to sit on them isn't something we'd generally recommend. Points balances can devalue over time as programs change (like BA in December), and tying up real money in points you don't have a plan for is rarely the right decision. It's also worth remembering that at roughly 0.88p per Virgin Point (with the transaction fee, and the bonus points factored in), you need to be getting better value on your redemption than this figure.
To work out the value you're getting per point, take the cash price of the flight and subtract the taxes and fees you'd pay on the reward booking anyway, then divide that figure by the number of points required, and multiply by 100. That gives you a pence per point value figure.
So if you're redeeming for something that works out at less than that per point, you'd be better off saving up the old fashioned way.
A few quick rules
You can buy or gift up to 300,000 points during this promotion (usually 200,000 per calendar year), in multiples of 1,000
Bonus points don't count towards the annual limit
Bonus points usually show up within 24 hours
You've got 14 days to cancel the purchase, as long as you haven't spent any of the points
You can't buy or gift points if your current balance is zero. The way to get around this is to transfer in some Tesco Clubcard or American Express Membership Rewards points first
Check reward availability before buying if you're targeting a specific redemption, as prices can change at any time
How do I buy these points?
Log in or create your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club account
Go to "My Account"
On desktop, find "Buy Points, Gift Points, or Transfer Points" in the bottom left. On mobile, tap "More" in the bottom right and find the same option in that menu
Select how many Virgin Points you'd like to purchase and see your bonus instantly
Is it worth it?
If you're sitting just shy of a flight, upgrade etc, this is a good way to get over the line. We've done exactly that ourselves — topping up to reach a Maldives redemption when we were just a few thousand points short.
You've got until 31st March, so there's time to think it through..
